I don't think anybody was really a huge fan of the band, unfortunately. They're a little bit of a joke with a 1 hit wonder kinda Sugar Ray to a degree. BUT, It really is a shame. It's tough out there. Thankfully I've not lost any close friends directly because of drugs, but I've known WAY too many people who took their own lives. Even though an OD isn't the same thing, they're very, very closely related. You've got to be in a very dark place to be struggling with either.

@nickmanning3307 You can start a habit without even knowing it like when you have surgery and the outgoing doc gives you opiates. Imagine finding a key to a place where you feel absolutely perfect . Better than you have ever felt your entire life . But then it wears off and every cell in your body is telling you to go back. So you try . But that's when you learn the whole sinister trick of it . That key only works once , no matter how many times you try , and how much it hurts you when you do. That's addiction.

Not saying it will be perfect or that you will or won't stumble along the way, but you can do this. Please ignore people in the comments that thinks sobriety is just a flip of a switch. It's not like that and those who say things like that don't know the damage their words can do. Just you posting this on a public comments section is a big step. It takes courage to put yourself out there and be vulnerable. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. 💜

Damn, didn't know about this until now but Crazy Town was actually a pretty amazing rap rock/nu metal group that made songs that are either hilarious or personal based on their meanings. When I saw the success of how this band was going, I've noticed something terrible was happening. First the passing of Adam Goldstein (A.K.A. DJ AM), the departure of Epic Mazur, and now most recently the death of Seth "Shifty Shellshock" Binzer, who in my opinion was the M.C. of the group. Sad that this band has met their end by the struggles they've all went through and it'll never be the same again. R.I.P. Shifty😢💔🙏

49 is way too soon. It's been 21 years a week ago that I lost my dad, at 46. If my dad was still alive he would only be 57, so like I said young. As for Shifty 49 young. Drugs is a killer. I'm just sad that he suffered so much. People are so quick to damn the druggie but they don't think if they are trying to quit and stay sober, how hard it is for that person, so they stop being friends with that person, or stop talking to that person; cut them completely out of their lives. Is it any wonder why addicts fail? With out that support they are back to doing drugs, or drinking, then they're gone. Then sometimes the people who cut them from their life is like "why didn't they tell us he kneeded help, we would have helped he." Shifty was probably saying he kneeded help and no was listing, or people kept yelling at him for go on drugs again.

I totally feel the battle of addiction and terror and pain it can cause a person and those around them... thankfully some win and some don't which is a dam shame. I managed to be one of those who won even though i don't know how. I was lucky to meet shifty when i was working for a promotion company in the UK in 2017, Crazy town did a run of shows for us. I spent most of the night as a DJ in the bar attached to the venue. I got chance to chat with shifty once the show was over and most people had left. He was so humble and happy to be performing to not a huge crowd but a crowd of people that really wanted to be there and enjoy the time. They didn't have any merch so he bought a bag of plain shirts from Primark, and spray painted me a shirt then and there and signed it ... such a one of a kind moment for me. RIP

Was just saying this in another comment. I was in a LOCAL crappy band during the same time period he had his hit- my friends and I STILL ego stroke about some of the stuff we did. To get THAT big really fast when young? And then fade away into nothing? And then you are hitting on some young girl, and she doesn't know who you are and just kinda laughs at you? I can only imagine the ego blow. A 12 step program would have helped him cope, but yeah- I suspect wanting to die was involved. A lot of dudes that age (my age) are hoping the next fix just ends it. Probably never stopped thinking about the summer he was huge.

I was there at Ozzfest at the Smirnoff Center when Crazy Town took the stage. They didn't even get through the first song before they were booed off and had trash thrown at them. I hope he cherished those moments. Because I can't imagine a better reception for Crazy Town.

Was never a fan of crazy town’s music, but he seemed like a really cool down to earth dude. Heard nothing but good thinks about him so I respected and liked him as a human being. Very sad when nice people pass from addiction. It’s such a horrible disease. Rest in peace Shifty

Damn, I was just watching some videos about him a month or two ago after it popped up on my feed and I remembered their song Butterfly that I hadn't heard in 20 years. I was surprised to see how he changed, but he seemed to have a positive attitude in his videos and a desire to try to kick his bad habits, which was nice to see. So sad to see that he died.

Butterfly was a song of my youth, and Shifty and Crazy Town personified cool. His story had a predictable end. Having owned addiction rehabs in Asia for the last 16 years, the passing of anyone to addiction feels like we missed an opportunity to help, and it saddens me. If you are struggling, make that call, speak to someone, get help - you can beat addiction...don't let addiction beat you.

Frustrated, knowing my childhood/teenage years are dying so young. I wasn't a big fan of him. But of course, I knew the song "Butterfly." Chester Bennington passing away a couple years ago. Still stings and always will. But the more I see stories like this. Really makes me love my own life more. We all take life for granted, just know it can end at any moment. Either by our own hand or by life itself. Death is welcomed in my eyes. It's one part of life that none of us can run from. Depression, anxiety, and any form of mental health issues. Life doesn't care. Stay strong and keep fighting as if the next second is gonna be the last breath you have. 😢😢😢
