Our hearts go out to the family of Shifty Shellshock from Crazy Town. He was in here last year, and we got to do a video with him. He was super nice to us and a great guy, so it's heartbreaking to hear the news today. Rest in peace Shifty!!!

I think the video and the effort to help him “re-start” his career was absolutely people “stepping in” to save him. And I’d imagine his loved ones would describe countless days and nights of worry and heartache trying to find the magic words that would convince him to get (back) into treatment, to accept help, to make the “right” choice. And he may have even told them he was finished using and ready to turn shit around . . . but sometimes the last time, is the last time.

@@bakfietspriester I had a college roommate many years ago who was addicted to weed. He knew that I wasn't into it and used it away from me. When the school year was over and we were parting ways, some of the last words he said to me were, "I'm tired of smoking my life away." True story.

@@stuco I believe he was. I remember a comment from someone on reddit _many_ years ago saying they saw him tweaking on drugs, walking around LA. That had to of been 6-7 years ago.

It's sad that is not surprise, especially due to people talk about it that they knew.Instead of judging him then and now they should help out.If not helping Him, then at least helping others who are struggling with addiction.

The first time i saw that video i knew that he was too far gone. and that he needed more help than ever. it was a great thing that Norm tried to help out trying to resurrect his career by reaching out to Norms audiences but at that time Shifty was too far gone. RIP Shifty shellshock

@@alessandrovinci8724 Oh quit your bullshit already. Most people have vices, it's true. Most of them try and fight em. But putting methamphetamines, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl etc in the same category as gambling, sugar, or even smartphone addiction is brain-dead. With heroin, alcohol and all those drugs, you waste your health (liver, teeth, kidneys, eventually heart), psychology and money. With gambling you just waste your money and psychology. Sugar can be handled (and cut) much easier and most people take sugar without being freaks if they miss it. My law is, judge and let others judge you. Feel Free.

@@smitty0159 You think that owner of this YTC did it for that reason? As ex addict to be honest it's a bit degoutant to talk after someone died about their addiction, no need to mention it at all. I saw a lot of my friends died from drugs, some were popular musicians in this region of Europe and i always felt a sort of discussing when they mentioning drugs in media after they died like ''oh etc''..I mean if they cared they would help while they were alive. Each person knows that drugs are not OK, so it sucks to abuse dead people for click ..I hope it wasn't becouse of it, but on the other hand maybe you ghad right.

Life is the most unfair thing we deal with. We all have lost family and friends. People do what they do. Sometimes it works out and they survive others it doesn't. Why, nobody knows. Sorry to see this happen sure he had family and friends as well who knew his place in the world. If you are in a situation similar to this get help. There's always hope.

You're spot on Norm. Another sad story of a life gone way too soon , impacting his loved ones. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and we all did some stupid stuff. But with the poison on the streets now such as fentanyl , it's a whole different problem. Unfortunately, I lost my daughter Lacey in December 2022. It has immensely impacted my family , and she leaves behind her now 6 year old son , who has been in my care since he was a few months old. I curse the people who are peddling that poison every day of my life , and hope that karma catches up with them very soon.

I like how Paul Brown and the other two musicians (sorry I don't recognize them) are playing with seriousness and respect. I will say that Paul is looking at Shifty with a bit of disbelief. Regarding addiction, everybody's bottom is different, and some people die on their way there. RIP Shifty.

Growing up as a kid, my Dad took me to Norms all the time. Guitars and music are everything to my Dad. About 6 months into my recovery in my early 20's, we met Shifty Shellshock at Canters Deli on Fairfax. He was so sweet. I'm so sad about his passing ❤

Very sad to hear. Far too many artists from my generation leaving far too early. Between mental health issues and addiction I think that’s 99% of premature deaths with struggling artists. Hopefully those numbers can trend downward 😔

So sorry to hear. I remember this video; I think I even commented on it at the time. So many street drugs these days are being cut with fentanyl by evil cartels and dealers making things doubly risky. I don't know if that's what took Shifty, but I'd almost be willing to bet on it. R.I.P.

For all those who make fun of him not having theeth, this man was in pain and had the strength to get off the drugs, but sometimes we are our worst enemies. We need faith in our hearts. I spend a month every year in LA for work. I always make it a point to swing by Norms and get a t shirt and dream while looking at the history he has on the walls. I think Norm looks at humans like guitars, yes they may had some glory in years past and they may look rough now but there is still value in them. Thank you for your humility and words Norm. See you in September when I come out.
