I don't let fractures bother me.Yeah,the rocks will mostly crack,but sometimes they don't!I have some THundereggs from Oregon,and they were the kind we were told to leave behind.but they were too beautiful! If I knew how to use a camera,I would post the pics.Some of them are so special.It's like you are opening an ancient closet for the first time,exposing the birth of a stone.They have unfortunately closed RIchardsons' Rock ranch to digging,but you can still buy them.But half the fun is the finding,and I will miss that!

I just want to say, the Agate in the thumbnail would make some amazing cabochons and carvings for a necklace and rings. Just look at the color and the dendrites. I have plenty of gemstones to work on but the fact that it takes millions of years for most gemstones to form is keeping me from doing so until I have more to work with than just a dremel. I would probably attempt a few if I can build a stand or something to secure the dremel to.

That moss agate is just so gorgeous. I would have grabbed the little pieces that broke off when you were cutting it. I wouldn't cut that one piece at all. Would be an awesome specimen just sitting on a shelf.

Jessie, you have progressed so much in your editing, your knowledge, and your skill level. You were one of the first (after meMiner) I watched after discovering YT. I still don't know why you don't put a blde guard on your saw. I had to do that with my saw and it kept me dryer and I don't need to add water so often. I just drilled 2 holes and found a guard that would fit and it makes cutting so much easier for me. You are doing some real nice work. Thanks for your time. Havagudun mate!

Hey I just wanted to say, there's a million ways you can polish a stone, if your stone looks like it wants to come apart, glue it with super glue, because you can polish the place you've super glued and filled in the cracks, I know it takes time for you to do it that way, but again you can save your beautiful stones from falling apart. 😉 I look at some stones for a long time also, so I can figure out the best way to cut the stone, I use Jeweller's loupes to study the stones I'm about to cut and polish, lapidary secrets so you didn't hear it from me......... well ya, you did. It's all about having fun mate, and seeing your creations. Just have fun with it mate. I hope you have a awesome blessed day mate, cheers! Cya! 😸🐟out!

Ohhh WOW! GOD I love your videos. I love being excited while walking with you, wading through streams while searching the keepers. What made me fall TRULY & DEEPLY in love is your ability to turn your keepers into something RIDICULOUSLY beautiful. I appreciate when you leave half the stone in it's natural state, it allows me to see and FEEL it's full representation. The stone itself is all encompassing. Great stuff Rook! Love that moss agate. If you "listen" to a rock, it will tell you where to cut and if to cut. I encourage people to study a rock, look at it, feel it and it will tell you how to cut it. It may take days or months but it will speak to you. Great job mate! Lotsa love from San Diego!

You're so right about sometimes waiting to work a certain stone Jesse, I held onto a black opal for about 12 months before I touched it.....soooo intimidating 😱 Improved my skills in that time and recently did it and it turned out beautifully.😁

Jesse! This was such a pleasant surprise to catch before I go off to work this Friday morning. Firstly, I'm SO excited about Theo's maker's challenge. When I realized that you and he were gonna be on the same weekend, I was stoked. Then I realized it was going to be my birthday weekend and I was even happier! My bday last year was pretty lame as we were 2 weeks into lockdown here in the US and we didn't do very much that was fun. This year, I'm completing my move to Oregon and turning 40, so it's a big deal.

I LOVE rock hounding. . . my grandmother and I would go down her long, gravel road whenever I visited. She had a rock polisher that was ALWAYS running. . . OUTSIDE. All of us grandkids knew to stay away from it--the cord was frayed and it would bounce all over and shock whatever grandkid touched it. But never grandma. :) Thank you for your rock exploring and cutting. . . also, your presentation is very uplifting and calming. Going to the Atlantic ocean today to hound some of my own. Hi Jess, great work on all the rocks, you seem to have a different perspective of how you want the rocks to turn out which seems to bring out a different view of the rocks which shows off their uniqueness. That moss agate is a special cracks and all as is the uncut thunder egg. I’ll have to try that trick with the brick on my trim saw, I’ve only cut a couple of rocks so far and the blade seems to be a little dull. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

The mossy agate is gorgeous! It's a work of natures art. If I found one like that I'd be set for life. I'd spend most of my day just staring at it. Those other specimens turned out fantastic as well. You've got a great eye for choosing quality samples and turning them into something to behold. I really enjoy the channel. Keep polishing and I'll keep watching. I've found some nice agates here in Canada but nothing to compare to some of the samples you've found. Well done!!

Thank you showing me how to cut and polish on a budget. I have so many rocks that I can't cut or polish because I've always thought that lapidary tools were too expensive. The fact that you were able to make those beautiful rocks even more beautiful with a tile saw and a handheld sander give me hope that I'll be able to do the same with my rocks soon. I'm really excited for it because I have some awesome thundereggs I want to polish and it looks like I now know how to do it. Thank you for showing us your awesome finds!

Hi Jess. This was the 1st vid of yours I caught. Made me an instant Subby. It's your energy's vibration being in resonance with love, gratitude, compassion etc... as well as your authentic love of the natural beauty in rocks. You speak of them the way I do. I talk and think to each find like they are a person, as I process them through cleaning. The ones that just bowl me over get talked to like I'm a level 9 clinger and the ridiculously gorgeous ones get a marriage proposal from me while down on both knees. JK,........ its just one knee. I have been collecting and finding beautiful rocks for over 50 years. Tumbled my 1st batch at 11 yrs old, Found my 1st meteorite at 9. Made finds all around the Earth as I traveled around the globe twice in each direction in my 20s and 30s. Up until a few years ago I only gathered them, gave many away and put many into my landscaping projects. Recently I've gotten myself into a health crisis and recovery is slow at almost 60 years old. I feel young, look younger than I am but even with an organic diet, I'm healing too damned slow. Mindfulness will get me back to exercising and fitness eventually but, I want if fucking now, dammitty!!!! But!!, being stuck flat on my back or reclined a lot has given me the room to devote as much time as I wish to the mountain of beauty I am temporary custodian of. I am in Arizona and came here in late 2016 as a Snowbird cuz home is in Washington state on 5 acres way out in the wild, up on a west facing ridge with a 270 degree view and winters can be rough. Especially living off grid in the Decagon House(with 6 add-ons) my ex and I built over a 10 year period. Down here in AZ in a tiny town that claims itself as the Rock Capital of the World, with a year round population of about 3,ooo that blooms to FUCKING enormous with over a million Snow Birding visitors each winter coming for the great weather and the tons of massive rock, gem and mineral shows. Well, on my walks around town and out in the desert I've come to realize it IS the Rock Capital of the World as I explore the washes and the hills around here that they call mountains. OK, they are small mountains. I've never made as many beautiful finds anywhere else in the world like this place. I've decided to stay. For the Rocks, yes, but also the ideal weather and the peace and quiet 9 months out of the year. I acclimate to the blistering hot summers quite well even though I was raised in the northern cold zones. It can start breaking 100 degrees F here in March and by June hit highs around 125F til September. I just get out in the warm a lot as it starts to move towards hot and don't turn on the ACs in my motor home, sometimes til late May. After a spell of 120s and it drops to 115 or 110, 110 and below feels comfy. I started hand polishing a few pretties with a diamond coated file and then ran them through the grits up to 3ooo. Started using a Dremmel for shaping but sometimes when the rock is small(like 30 grams) the Dremmel takes away too much rock so I whip out my files, keep things wet and listen to some Tool, or Liquid Stranger, Linkin Park, Korn, ya know.......the good shit, while I bring out the beauty. I can only think of a few other things I finds as pleasurable as communing with Rocks. If that makes me weird like one particular asshole neighbor thinks then so be it. His problem is prolly not my focus on the rocks but his unprocessed emotions and repressed sexuality, plus certain xenophobic beliefs, a low IQ AND EQ and maladaptive coping strategies from childhood trauma still guiding his mid 60s behavior but I digress(a lot). . Letting the stone tell me what it wants as I go is the only way for me. As a pretty successful cottage industry artist and craftsman with a 20 year career cut short, with high possibilities/expectations of myself, I am happy with my results. But, I realize I need to speed things up a bit if I wanna keep going out and hounding or I'll have to sell my RV and get another stix 'n brix home down here. In my online searching for solutions, I found you. If I didn't have the Hounding instinct I'd probably be able to get my rock hound fixes and needs met just by watching you on KZfaq but Nope!!! I gotta get my hands in the ground and holding the finds. Its as if I get a download of energy, maybe even insight and epiphany by closing my eyes and sitting with or holding the lovelies. Especially the meteorites in my custody. Perhaps my spiritual awakening and transcending the wounds from some nasty shit in my childhood has been assisted by these beautiful multi-dimensional carriers of information that are hiding in plain sight all around us due to a layer of dust and people just not knowing that a blast of water from an industrial grade squirt bottle while walking by, aimed at a possible, can reveal its potential. I bring home hundreds of specimens each time I go out, sort'em, hose'em, bucket'em, inspect'em, release many back into the wild lookin' clean and pretty, put some into the rock garden structures I'm building in my Motor home's space and some into friends and neighbors landscaping which leaves average about 5 to 10 lookers that I then bring inside for a closer inspection with the optical gear, give them a once over with a sonic toothbrush then into the Ultra-Sonic cleaner tank with some hot water, Jet Dry and a touch of gentle dish washing liquid. They come out of there quite clean but sometimes need some acids for rust or caliche. Still, I've gathered and found such a huge pile of beauty that it is cramping my style, lol. I've never been a hoarder but unless I expand my living arrangements and speed up my polishing, a few of my friends who already have one eyebrow raised will be calling me one. I love flaws. Almost all my pieces I have found, cut and polished have a flaw. Nothing is perfect, including us, so I like to leave the flaws. Sometimes, when you try to get rid of them all, you ruin the stone. I let the stone talk to me and tell me how it wants to be done. I love watching how excited you get finding them and finishing them.

You did a great job on these! I am inspired...so much so that I scoured the pawn shops in my area and picked up a tile saw for $50. So far the experimental cutting I've done looks great. This is opening up new avenues in my collecting. I am more likely to pick up a specimen now that I know that I can look inside.
