Cream - Eric Clapton at Royal Albert Hall, London.
November 26th, 1968
6 of 11
"Farewell Concert" is the live recording of the Cream's final concert at the Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 1968.
Directed by Tony Palmer, the film incorporates pieces of six performances with narration by BBC announcer Patrick Allen, along with interviews with the band members themselves, showcasing their playing abilities.
The film has often been criticized for both its mediocre sound and visual effects.
In 2005, a special extended edition of the concert appeared featuring full versions of all songs separated from the narration and interviews. The new version featured digitally remastered sound and video including three bonus songs.

I'm a millenial, but grew up loving oldies. When I picked up guitar in my teens, I learned to love the blues through playing it as an easy avenue toward learning lead techniques. My first blues record was Five Live Yardbirds. I introduced myself to Clapton through this record. Only now, in my thirsties and after trying to play like other guitar greats that I thought I liked better, I've come to terms with the fact that of all the great guitarists, Claptons style most resonates with my natural abilities. My brothers would refer to me as Clapton, cuz I didn't realize how much listening to cream and the yardbirds had influenced me. Now I'm content to play Claptin style. I'll never sound like Page.

Have you listened to the real deal? Exponents were good back then. However, listening to the real blues players is a completely different experience. You learn how to really play. If you haven’t listened to the real players I suggest The Chicago Blues legends and the delta blues.

The only way to sound like guys from the 60’s and 70’s is to simply just get a super lead through 4x12’s and sheer volume. Which with sound men today is almost completely unachievable unless you’re playing stadiums in a “guitar led” band.

Hendrix was obsessed with the troubles that Jeffrey and company brought to his life and career. The? band's finances were entirely controlled by management and were depleted by a tax haven in the Bahamas founded in 1965 by Michael Jeffrey called Yameta Co., a subsidiary of the Bank of New Providence, with accounts at the Naussau branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia and the Chemical Bank in New York.(14) A substantial share of the band's earnings had been quietly drained by Yameta.

“Can you show an example of aggression in your music?” The solo he plays in response is just…. WOW aggressive and ferocious for sure but also flows so hard doesn’t miss a note or beat.

I do not think I have ever sen Eric Clapton wiht out a beard and mustache or clean shaved. I never knew Eric Clapton shved his beard area and not his mustache. This is a cool vidoe of him talking about how he lpays and where it comes from. This is very interesting stuff. Thank you for postng this video.

I remember even as a little kid watching this thinking that the camera work in this concert show was God awful lol
@UnionAlley

I think the sound is awful too. Almost like they've deliberately drenched it in reverb. Shocking really considering it was filmed by/for the BBC and this was the epitaph for Cream. Especially when you look/listen to other concert footage of a similar time frame. Not trolling, just voicing my long-standing frustration with the whole presentation as a fan of the band for nearly 45 years.
