Started golf 3 years ago (45 yrs old now) and have paid for lessons and bought gadgets etc, and this video has completely transformed my game to its highest level ever. My confidence is through the roof and I’m having to adjust all my iron/wedge distances because not only am I hitting them straighter, but 12-14% further for each club. My drive is straight down the middle 230ish with a casual swing and I’m loving life and loving golf. I’ve already shared this specific video to 3 friends just tonight. Thank you so much for finally making the “ball first” feel come to life for me. I made my first of many divots the next round I played after watching this video, and before I NEVER made divots!

I watched this video this morning and decided to try it out this afternoon on the practice ground, for context I am 55 with an injured knee and shoulder and have been struggling to finish a round recently. I tried this in the hope it would enable me to get more consistency and help me time the swing better. All I can say is THANK YOU Danny, I hit my 7 iron consistently better and not one fat ball, I even got some up past the 150 sign (not carry I don't think, but they were up there and I am taking it😆) I haven't done that for 2-3 years, and all with my bloody feet together - after experimenting a little bit I found my optimum seemed to be with my feet just a few inches apart. another take away is how this method helped me feel the way the body and arms worked together - I am definitely going to try this on the course. I also have to add too, I walked away after 2.5 hours, after hitting quite a few balls and I didn't think about the dodgy knee once 👍

@TheSailingChannel
@TheSailingChannel 23 күн бұрын
Love the tempo and pace discussion. Also note the logo on the golf glove. It shows the left hand slightly bowed on the backswing. Along with his moderately strong grip, the bowed left wrist is squaring the club at impact insuring a straight flightline. Include the bowed left wrist with smooth tempos and clubface strike just beyond the ball, and you have a wonderful combination for ball striking success with your irons. Same holds true for your tee shots. Just move the ball position forward a bit and tilt your spine angle back slightly to encourage hitting up on the ball with your wood.

Bear with me Danny, my golf is the result of this simple simple advice, I slowed down to three quarters of speed and improved timing,tempo and accuracy enormously and have maintained my handicap of 3 for a number of years and I am 69 yrs old and still swinging within myself.... I tried to pass this information on to my friend who had a terrible slice and tried to kill the ball with every shot,he went at everything with full hammer and tongs😵‍💫😵‍💫..at this point I offered my advice to slow down which he tried and the results were phenomenal....he was long, straight and accurate but with one drawback....no physical swing change can change a golfers mentality...my friend admitted the changes were easy but said it "didnt feel right"because he mentally related the golf swing to all out attack so he went back to fishing his ball from water and searching among the trees .......oh I did try Danny🌟🎊🤩🥳

This works with the driver and other fairway woods as well. A variation with fairway woods is to choke up your grip to the middle of the grip, or maybe even up to the shaft, to shorten the club. Then, as you become more confident, gradually move your grip closer to the end of the handle.

Whenever I find myself swinging too fast and fatting it, or blading it, I just go back to Danny’s ‘One hundred-and-one’ swing tempo. ‘One hundred’ takes me to the top of my back swing, ‘and’ sets me moving onto my left foot as I’m swinging down, then ‘one’ as I strike the ball. Works every time! Thanks Danny! Cheers from the Giant’s Causeway coast. 😄👍⛳️☘️

Great video Danny. The feet together drill is great. The thing I struggle with is weight shift and I think I,m not alone. When my feet are apart I shift right slightly but I don't always get back to my left resulting in some fat shots and lack of power. The feet together drill takes the weight shift away and suddenly I'm hitting pure shots. I've learned this in the past with this same drill but thanks for the reminder of how good this drill actually is. I'm going to incorporate it into my warmup routine. Thanks

If the ball has any curve on it it simply means your club path and club face aren’t aligned at impact. For example, I was coaching a right hander today who was hoping the ball. Is club path was so far right of target that his automatically reacted to close the club face which created the curve. If your ball curves this is what is happening to some degree

Danny, I’ve watched the video of you with Pete Cowen several times. When you spin the right arm down do you allow the arm to straighten in order to maintain the pressure? Or keep it flexed? This technique has been a massive improvement to my swing, thank you!

Would you suggest a similar concept with driver to get better tempo? Always enjoy your videos! Easy to understand and not Uber complex.

Yes, he’s had them for 20 years. That brand doesn’t exist anymore. To create the same effect simply use two alignment sticks as a cross hair. Forming the letter T

Today's round was full of, "Danny would be happy with that swing", or more frequently, "Danny would not approve" 😂 Thanks for all your helpful videos, we're out there putting them into motion.

Hi Danny. Another super useful exercise, thanks. Do we need to approach the swing action in a different way for different lies? Eg, short grass, long grass (both dry and wet), in a divot, on bare fairway and so on. OR is it the choice of club to cope with each different lie that changes? A further suggestion for your consideration for future video content. Course management. How to plan your route along a hole, how to aim to keep out of trouble etc. I’m beginning to see golf as a problem solving exercise, so there must be some tips on how one approaches the course to help one have the best round. Have a great day.

Love it. Question- In order to “fling” the clubhead out towards the ball, do you feel your hands sort of slow down just as they’re approaching in line with the ball? I struggle with holding onto the clubhead as well as “artificially” unhinging my wrists in the strike area and it leads to a very inconsistent strike.

Ernie Els tempo - once again you explained in very simple terms how to fix an enormous problem. Is this similar to swinging with a towel under both arms?

@@DanielMaudeThe drill worked great, but I never hit it as far as I normally would. On the plus side the consistency was much better. When I took my normal stance and slowed the swing down the distance was down , but it was fairway 90% of the time. I’ve a game with my Grandson tomorrow, in the rain, and I will do my best to slow it down. Love how you explain things simply in your videos. Keep it up and have a great week.

In terms of the downswing though, I’m trying to find consistency at the moment. I’ve been slightly loosening my grip at the top of my swing before I release to get that whip, the “catapult”. But it’s too erratic. Do I need to do that? Any tips on getting that catapult without feeling like I’ve lost control of the club? Love your videos Danny! You’ve transformed my whole game!
