Photoshop, as well as other design platforms, can be quite intimidating. However, they can also be simple and easy to use. In this video series, I will give you step by step instructions on how to use Photoshop and Canva as well as giving you details on where to get your graphics from.
Some of these videos will be in a tutorial format; others will be a "design with me" format. In either format, you will be able to see exact details of how I use the different platforms.
I truly hope that this series will help you with your very own digital designs. If you have questions or need help, please do not hesitate to message me on here or send me an email at bettydmoney@gmail.com.

A few Questions, 1 does it feel oily, 2 will it glue, 3 does it dry and if it does dry does it look like it did before you added the oil?
@DebadooCreates
@DebadooCreates Ай бұрын
I'm not the OP, but it's been a couple years so, no once it completely dries, it doesn't feel oily, but has sort of a soft feel. I haven't done this since around 2005, but best as I recall if anything it maybe feels like you put a little lotion on your hands, but definitely not really oily. We used tape runner back then, but had no trouble with that. Once it totally dries, which doesn't take very long, it still has the look of vellum. Long term I don't know if it would eventually look more opaque or not. I used to love this technique, & had completely forgotten about it till I saw this video pop up. Hopefully you've already tried it in the last couple of years, in which case I reckin your questions had already been answered, but if not, definitely give it a try. 😊 Also if you do use liquid glue, I would squirt some out on paper or a non stick mat & take a piece of sponge & sponge it on.

I will have to do this again with my print outs. Thank you for bringing this idea back to me.

Hello, I have a question ❓ I'm researching on KZfaq whether to (just) use normal white copy paper OR use tracing paper to make faux vellum, have you tried tracing paper at all? I've also heard from a KZfaqr that the oils (could) possibly come OFF and spoil the next plain paper in our journals, im trying to research all this before I invest in tracing paper or copy paper, plus run the possibility of saturating my new journal. Thank you for any advice you can give me,...
@Kayenne54
@Kayenne54 Жыл бұрын
I think the "faux vellum" has to get quite hot for any oils to re-release; like in a hot car in summer. (depending on where you live of course), but the baby oil, if released, would just make certain other papers right next to it "vellum like" anyway, right? Why not make a "faux journal" with one sheet of this method, and two plain pieces of paper sandwiching it, and see how they fare? You'll have only used 3 pieces of copy paper, which shouldn't break the bank in the interests of science lol.
@BettysCustomDesigns
@BettysCustomDesigns Жыл бұрын
I haven’t had any trouble with the oil coming off of my “vellum” on to any other items, but several people had said that they had that issue. My thought is maybe the climate has something to do with that or how long it takes for something to actually dry? I truly don’t have a clue.

if you use the wrong kind of oil, it definitely can. you have to use an oil that will absorb into tge paper and actually “dry”. I laid mine out on a paper bag over night to see if anything transferred abc nothing did.

@@BettysCustomDesigns Try putting some weight on them, like pressing them in a book, and see if you get any stains then. I have done this baby oiling paper before :D If you put weigh on the papers, they will start to stain. And as I was just sorting my papers and accidentally put all the papers together in a pile the other day, including these baby oil ones instead of leaving them individually housed with paper towels between them, I can say they indeed do continue to stain even after being squished between paper towels with a heavy weight on them for a month xD So I think they will always stain other papers when you squish them. I've seen people suggest that you have to seal them off with for example watered down glue to make sure the oil doesn't seep out but idk I haven't actually tried it myself because, well something's just always come up and I've forgotten to finish experimenting. XD
