Nik the Booksmith has an ingenious way to make parchment: She sprays the paper with clear acrylic paint, the cheap spray can from Walmart. Spray both sides and VOILA! Not sticky, not oily, and easy to glue to. I've tried the baby oil and it smells great, but I think I'm going to try the clear spray when it gets warmer and can get outside (snow on Monday). TFS!

Yes I have tried the spray before, I’m not a good sprayer at all!! I get run lines, puddles, & then I try to wipe & I end up with a hole in my paper & a big mess. Lol 😂 I could maybe get my husband to spray it for me 🤔 lol

Hi Chrissy! I just found your channel and subbed ya! I have only been making journals for about 4 months, but I love it. I never would have thought about making my own vellum, how ingenious. Love the albums you made too. Beautiful. I have just made a travel journal but I did not make it the skinny kind like a lot of people make. It was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for the video!

I just have a cheap printer from Amazon. I don’t buy any fancy printers. Lol I always check & see what the cheapest ink is & then find out what printer goes to it & that’s what I buy. Lol

I didn't read all the comments to see if anyone mention but mineral oil is the base for baby oil. So if you're like me and really can't have a lot of smells around you may want to try using it
@ChrissyDesigned

Yes mineral oil can absolutely be used the same way! I forgot to mention that, thank you! 😁

Love your channel. Can you use scrapbook paper to do this?
@ChrissyDesigned
@ChrissyDesigned Жыл бұрын
Yes! But it’s certain types. The one sided printed paper that has a smoother feel will work. I would cut a strip off & test it before ruining a whole sheet. 😊

I love your photo books 💕 they are very pretty. I don't know anything about vellum. So you made your own by wiping baby oil on decorative paper so you can kind of see through it and that's called vellum? Is that right? And the purpose of doing it is just to give you more options for making envelopes, tag's or other little things for your JJ?

Thank you. 😊 Yes ma’am. Just a little baby oil on any printed paper & it’ll become a little see through. It’s just a fun way to add some different types of paper to your journals & you can use it to make anything regular paper can make. 😁

How do you keep the ink from smearing
@ChrissyDesigned
@ChrissyDesigned Жыл бұрын
I haven’t ever had an issue with the ink smearing. You will want to make sure to let the paper fully dry after printing an image. I use a cheap regular ink jet printer, a laser printer might be different so I’m not sure about those, but ink jet printer images I’ve never had any smearing. I hope that helps. 😊
