Talking about wallpaper, I’m glad it’s gone & these new walls look really beautiful. Great galley kitchen design. And the toilets look really classy. Overall, the whole apartment’s layout has a really nice flow. And love seeing the snow outside! Looks really cold out there.

i love Paula's designs, but I would've knocked out the kitchen wall entirely. Seemed like it would really open up the space and bring the kitchen window's light into the whole apartment. but i'm a sucker for big open spaces.

All very well done as usual. I do wonder about the light fixture in the shower. It seems dangerous and not up to code. Some kind of outdoor light would be safer, since these are designed to withstand wet weather.
@pmddllc
@pmddllc 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks.. No, nothing dangerous and totally up to code. We're inspected by NYC and regardless, I would not use something that isn't up to electric code for wet spaces!!

Paula McDonald This turned out fabulous per usual. Wondering if you have a go-to recommendation to avoid the dreaded cold, operating room feel of LED or the sometimes off color. That is my biggest reason for avoidance thus far. Thx!

I am always impressed with how you do the bathrooms, it's such a complete transformation. On the flip side, I do not like that "draw microwave" at all. Just one more thing to break and be incredibly annoying to have fixed (could be difficult to find parts or replacement etc).. Plus, you always have to bend over to use it, which also is annoying. But, I can see how a client would want it if they have enough $$$$$ and don't care about paying for servicemen. Nice walk-through.

Love the videos! Great work! I am wondering though why in the USA the "traditional" style is still so common? You don't have that in the EU anymore and I think it looks very nice.
@austind3459
@austind3459 6 жыл бұрын
it is probably based more on consensus and being more of a "standard" for the real estate market; you will probably get a larger buyer pool if you stick within more traditional standards....more unique properties, you might be taking a gamble with..and in New York it might even go by neighborhood; or even down to the particular building..(some buildings might not even let you renovate outside the style of the building or have particular covenants which need to be approved) you probably won't find a lot of "traditional apartments" in Soho but it is probably the norm on the Upper East Side.. I think this building is over by the United Nations.. and its pretty traditional area as well..
@pmddllc
@pmddllc 6 жыл бұрын
Just personal taste of the clients! Thankfully they are all different.. and thanks!
@bluefiretekken4836
@bluefiretekken4836 6 жыл бұрын
Austin D interesting to know! Like I said over here in the EU everything gets modernized and the traditional style is not being used anymore unless it's an old historic building that's being restored. Wish we'd go back to the old style though.
@austind3459
@austind3459 6 жыл бұрын
of course there are always exceptions..my perceptions of some neighborhoods might not be a matter of fact.. there could also be different subsets of traditional.. I think Paula does a fabulous job in recreating a space; or reconfiguring it to accommodate a more open floor-plan; but still in keeping with the building..

Why would you cover hardwood with carpet? The carpet will get dirty, especially if you wear your shoes in the apartment.
@pmddllc

Well, that answer is the client's choice. I'm not a fan.. I would prefer area rugs.. custom runners.. you can always remove them.. but client's rule..LOL!!
