Really great info Chad. First meet of the year was back in Feb., then Europa in July, and planning to do another in Oct. It looks about 13 weeks leading in so a transition or bridge week or two could be beneficial.

Thanks for the video. Might be worth talking a bit more about weight manipulation around the meets, though. For instance, I like cutting after a meet and then bulking into the following meet.

Very helpful video. If you're someone like me who just wants to be strong as I can humanly be without going to any Powerlifting competitions, do you suggest the 3 times per year mock meet like explained in this video or the current format I have of 25 weeks (the default given to me) which has a lot of hypertrophy weeks and strength weeks which would probably be something like 2 mock meets per year if i don't do any Bridge/PB in between? Nonetheless, this is a video that I'm definitely saving.
@JuggernautTrainingSystems

I would probably do 2 mock meets in that case with a 6 week bridge between meet cycles for that.

Loving the app. I’m planning a bridge block after my next test. Never done one before. Do you think there will be enough volume to justify a calorie deficit or should I wait for a hypertrophy block?

Great video. Am doing powerbuilding AI and after this cycle will focus even more on strength so will 70/30 PL/Pb be good switch vs switching to the PL AI? currently doing 50/50 PB . Not planning on competing at this point

Very helpful, using the app, this would mean I generate a new program after 12 weeks or so. Is that an issue instead of running through the entire 6 month generated program before switching goals?
@JuggernautTrainingSystems
@JuggernautTrainingSystems 2 жыл бұрын
That really depends on if you're training to compete or just training. If the latter, you can certainly go through 6 months (I'd suggest starting that with a bridge) or you could create shorter timeframes (every 12-18/weeks) but much of that is just based on your personal preference.

Great video I know JTS mostly focuses on PL in these videos, but would you organize the training for strongman annually in a similar way? The movements can be more taxing on the CNS, but is the variety enough that you don’t need to stretch out bridge blocks? Thanks!
@JuggernautTrainingSystems
@JuggernautTrainingSystems 3 жыл бұрын
Assuming that events are changing enough from contest to contest, there should be enough variation but having a 4 week block of lighter, more general, 'fun' training could still be useful between every few competition cycles.

When you put a mini cut in during that year ? Im guessing for most of the year ya be trying to gain as much muscle as possible as with that comes strength but when would a mini cut be a good idea ? Thanks
@jackn9951
@jackn9951 3 жыл бұрын
Not JTS, but I've watched enough to know their answer, but I could be wrong. Mini cuts are more appropriate for bodybuilding. If you're into powerlifting, you should probably try to get to your competitive weight by normal cuts during the hypertrophy phase of your powerlifting training, maybe by making the hypertrophy phase take up a larger portion of your training blocks. If you're not into powerlifting, you're probably not competing in powerlifting 3 times per year
@evancawley3236
@evancawley3236 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackn9951 but if I go for longer cuts then wouldnt I just be taking away time that could be spent doing hypertrophy work and bulidng more muscle? After all mini cuts arnt made to get you really lean and I don't want to be really lean I just want to spend as little amount of time cutting so I can get back to more productive bulking phases.
@evancawley3236
@evancawley3236 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackn9951 I'm also trying to go from the -74 kg cat to some day -90 kg cat. I don't think long cuts would be for powerlifting if your trying to move up category's, maybe if trying to move down weight cats then that be fair but for trying to bulk up my maximum while trying to stay around 14-16% bf, I reckon not spending alot time cutting would be most optimal
@filb
@filb 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackn9951 You're right if you do 3 meets (or mock meets), it gives you very little time for a cut. You basically have to do them during PB/Bridge blocks which works fine if you have only a few pounds to lose. At 2 meets per year, you can easily go on a cut. I remember Mike Israetel saying on this channel that the best time to cut is during Bridge/Hypertrophy blocks...however it's not a good idea to be on a cut during the strength/peaking phases.
@jackn9951
@jackn9951 3 жыл бұрын
@@evancawley3236 you should check out the Renaissance Periodization podcast about mini cuts that just came out a few weeks ago. I would just be regurgitating the things they talk about. It sounds like you need multiple conservative mass phases during the hypertrophy part of your training cycles with dietary maintenance phases during the strength and peaking phases. And if you end up with a little more bodyfat than you'd like, do a cut on one of the hypertrophy phases and get back to massing on the next. Mini cuts are used in the middle of long massing phases to get your appetite back and take a rest from hard training while losing a little bit of bodyfat, but the hypertrophy phases in powerlifting where massing would be appropriate aren't long enough to justify that
