Mike Guyre uses a OneWay Easy Core system to core 3 bowl blanks out of each of several maple logs. This type of system enables the user to improve the yield of bowl blanks from particularly good specimens of wood.

Great job! Thanks to your whole team . I have gotten into some larger blanks lately and I really want to get the most out of them. This looks like to say to go. My kids have been asking what I want for Father’s Day. Now I know what to tell them. Keep up the good work.

Might I suggest you and your guild invest in Glenn Lucas' Bowl Turning Techniques video. He uses the One Way Coring system and has some excellent tips on streamlining this process! Also within that video he explains how to and the importance of removing the pith! Thank you for posting this video. It kept my wife and I hollering at our tv for the better part of 45 minutes. Also, may I suggest moving your speed enhancement note to the side, not directly in the center so we can see what you are doing.

I made a bands aw circle jig about 3 years ago . It was supposed to be a prototype but like most things it worked so well that it is still in use, it has many of the features on your jig. However, its time time replace the jig and I will incorporate your idea of the track guided pivot. I have one improvement over yours. I have extended the Jig over the left hand side of the band saw bed and fitted swivel dogs that swing under the left hand edge of the bed. My band saw is only a 14" so the dogs stop the jig lifting under the weight of large logs. PS: That bowl will be dry in 2-3 months up here in Montana.

Excellent video! Hope it's as easy as you make it look because this demonstration sold me on the One Way Easy Core and it should be delivered tomorrow. Thanks.

Would you please share the plans for your circle jig? It is one of the best and straight forward I have seen. Thanks.

Really good vid. I am an Easy Core user as well and always struggle getting my bottom thicknesses. Is there any way I can get a picture or handout on the laser assembly he is using to set the depth? I really appreciate you doing this vid. Roger AAW member.

+Roger Turnbough I used some of the pieces from Ron Brown's Laser Guide (www.ptreeusa.com/turning_tools_accessories.htm). The vertical piece is a piece of PVC pipe with a coupler glued to it. I turned the pipe to match the inner diameter of the cutter post.

Great video...especially the sled for making the blank into a circle. Why do you use 3/16" for the cutter kerf....mine are 3/8" across the entire width; not just the tip.
@pajonate
@pajonate 4 жыл бұрын
I think it was more "speaking" mistake than measuring mistake. He said 3/16" but the size of the kerf looks right on spot with 3/8". I agree the 3/8" (10mm) is the correct with of the kerf. Maybe there was an error in his measurements for the depth of the bowl, especially the smallest one. That came too shallow and it was not suppose to be like that if the diameter was around 8". The depth was suppose to be around 4" not 2" or less how it ended up being. Also, having the pith and those cracks is not the safest way of doing that, which was obvious when that piece flew out. But, it was much better video than the one OneWay provides, much cleaner shots, better resolution and I especially liked the laser system jig. Easy and very helpful. Probably must have for this system.

Any information about the laser setup? I just bought the 9" knife and base. Would like to make the laser pointer to help with the setup

Is there no need to tighten the set screw on the base for the finger?

We did tighten it before we started, it looks like we failed to mention or show that part. Good catch!
