Yes this is one of the tough parts of having pets as you say. But what keeps my head up when I lose one of my babies is that I gave them the best life they could have had. So many animals are abused and neglected and never know love. Mochi knew love and never had a bad day in her whole life with you guys. I know this was two years ago and I'm sure you've healed by now but it's a good thing to think about for any pets that decide it's time for them to cross rainbow bridge.

My bunny died the day before yesterday, I had her for 7 years - I was ten years old and now I'm 17 - we went to sleep and then the next morning we found her dead ... I can't bear the pain, mostly because i wasn't there for her when she needed me the most , I didn't know that she was going to die she was totally fine before, the only thing that I noticed was that she didn't drunk much water that day and she didn't ate her food , she was inactive but I thought It was due to old age or environmental change (we were on a vacation so you know...) all I wanted was to be there for here transmitting her safety, tranquility, comfort, serenity I wanted her to be peaceful and happy before she was gone forever but now I don't know how she was feeling because she was alone I can't forgive myself, I hate myself , I want her back, I want my baby back I can't believe she is gone... forever I can't believe that I won't talk to her again, pet her, hug her or do all these things we were doing together every fucking day I'm sorry for your loss And thanks for taking the time to read this I needed to get it out of my chest but that doesn't really help, the only thing that will make me feel better is if I see her again someday, even after death, I just hope or at least if I turn back time and recognize the symptoms so as to be by her side it's the least I could do but I didn't

I lost my beloved bunny yesterday. From a really nasty bloat. I miss her so terribly, my heart hurts 😭 She helped me through 4 years of burnout periods of stress and anxiety. I have applied for a school to make a career change, waiting to get in. And as I said goodbye to her yesterday, I promised her that I would take good care of myself from now on. And I thanked her for her help and caring support. Her job was done ❤️ RIP Bodil 🐇

I am so sorry. This was so hard to watch. My heart is breaking for you. My goldfish spawned for the first time last week. One of the fry is very friendly and comes right up to me. I will name him or her Mochi in memory of your sweet bunny.

I know how you feel. I lost my baby today. He was weakening and struggled to breathe. I held him in my arms and comforted him and told him how much i loved him until he took his last breath. My heart goes out to all the people who have lost their babies too. It truly is the worst feeling.

my 3 rabbits died suddenly in 3 days, I m so much in grief that I don't have words to say, my andy died😭😭😭😭

About 1 week ago I lost my rabbit, how she passed away was exactly how you described it. She was acting strange beforehand like not responding when she sees people or not eating or drinking as much, and different sized poops. I tried to tell my father that this was going on and he says "We'll keep an eye on it" but I was getting nervous and was pressing the matter and I was reading books on rabbits and what could be the issue and me and sister had to basically yell at my dad saying we need to take her to the animal hospital ASAP, but he was called in to work and he said we'll take her the next day. I had her sleep in my lap because she didn't move much and I felt if I put her in her cage, she would of passed. Then when we took her to the animal hospital, I tried to stay positive and hopeful that everything will be fine. We got her checked in and they took her to the back. We waited a good 10-15 minutes until we we're called by the doctors. When everyone was in the room, they said that my rabbit has gone into cardiac arrest, when I heard that I completely broke down. The doctors said that they are doing what they can to resuscitate her but it did not look good and my dad looked at them with a blank stare as if he did not know what was going on or he had no idea that this would happen, he even asked why, and they said that my rabbit probably was much sicker than we thought and since rabbits are prey animals they tend to hide their illnesses so no one would know. I was just balling my eyes out and could not speak, the doctors left to give us some time to process everything. I just kept crying, I even felt nauseous and almost threw up, after a little bit I calmed down until moment I dreaded the doctor came back and said that my rabbit sadly had passed. I broke down twice as hard and I just did not know what to do, I considered that rabbit like a child and I lost her. I was very angry and upset, the doctor asked on what we wanted to do about the body. My family and I came to the agreement that we were going to bury her, a friend of the family let us bury her in their backyard. After burying her and giving her a nice little ceremony, we went home, my expression was blank for the rest of the day and I just did not want to bother with the rest of the world. Just today I got a letter from the animal hospital, saying that they planted a tree in my rabbits name in a national Forest. When reading the letter it brought me to tears, even typing this all down is making me tear up. I loved that rabbit very much and I will miss her dearly. She was 8 years old and she lived a long life. My family rescued her from being someone's dinner and she brought joy to an entire family. R. I. P.

i feel your pain, i lost my bunny yesterday morning and it was a sudden, unexpected death as well. we were planning to put her to sleep because she only had a 20% chance of surviving but before they were even able to put her to sleep she passed away. it’s the hardest thing i’ll ever go through and i miss my bun so much.

So sorry. Loss is hard, even when it's an animal. People like us don't just have "animals or pets" we have members of the family, like children. I have children and I still consider my pets children. I even cry when I lose a fish because I seriously have love for them. You love your babies and you do a great job. Mochi was absolutely precious. I haven't had a bunny since my teens but have been thinking about getting another in the future and I hope to be lucky enough to have one as special as your sweetie.

This touched my heart because I have a rabbit too and I was so scared. Now I think he’s going to die and I just don’t want him to ever die he’s my everything. I was crying so much! My mum came to me and said “what’s wrong” and I broke out and said crying “I don’t want toffee to die” :(

My rabbit passed away yesterday. He was choking and I instantly performed the correct rabbit CPR but to no avail. This is the first time I experienced loss, and for it to be my 4-year best friend has broken me. I try to avoid thinking of him or believing he's in a happy place, but I still can't get over loss. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost someone they loved, as I now know how detrimental it can be.

The same thing happened with my rabbit in April. I know exactly how you feel, especially with things like the cage not being where it should. It's upsetting for a little while but you'll get used to it eventually. I still miss my rabbit everyday. Only difference between my experience and yours is that my rabbit was showing signs of being unwell (sitting with a slopped back and not being as energetic as normal). I thought this was because his nails were too long, which they were, but really he had some internal problems causing him to sit like that and not run around as much. It all makes sense now but was not obvious back then. Also rabbits are very good at hiding health issues as they don't want to appear weak to predators. Hope you feel better soon! It's good to talk about it and get it out of your system. :)

Thank you for sharing your pain with us. I lost one bunny in January and the other last week. I'm beyond devastated. And I feel just like you did. They were completely fine, eat healthy food, have a comfortable environment, have love and everything was good. Then, both of them were gone within just 2-3 days. I rushed them to different vets because no one really knew what to do even though they were supposed to know how to treat bunnies. But they couldn't. They're gone now and I find myself just walking aimlessly around an empty house. I took off their enclosures because it might have helped but it's not right, those places are now too empty. And I never realized how much my life revolved around them. Getting their veggies while grocery shopping, getting their hay, running to hug them at the very moment I would get home from work, cuddles while watching TV, running around me while in the kitchen. Everything. I don't know what to do with myself now.

I know what it feels like losing an animal friend. I do also have bunnies and dogs. And I experience a lot of pain and my world is completely shattered and collapsed everytime my dogs and bunnies died. It is really painful and the worst feeling one could ever have when someone you loved passed away. I treat them both as my family member that I always prioritize themfirst rather than myself. I love them more than myself because they are everything to me. And seeing them suffering from something is like being myself tortured deep inside. God bless all animals in the world especially those who are abused and in sickness today. Sorry for making this so long, I just cant stop myself cause I know what you feels like and its normal. Animals will always have a special place in my heart.

My bunny died yesterday evening. He got bit by a cat and when I went to go feed him and his brother I saw him there dead and cought the cat escape. I will miss him. I feel like I should have spent more time with him. And the fact that makes it even sadder is that his brother is still searching for him everywhere. That breaks my heart.

I've been grieving 2 days now and I can't stop crying . I loved my rabbit so much just like you did . I was so attached to her and loved her with all my heart. I feel so empty inside without her. I totally understand how you felt. I feel the same way. It was very sudden with no warnings that I had noticed. I'm so glad I spent so much time with her before Thumper passed. I gave her a bath and she loved it, I groomed her and even cut her nails and she was being very lovable and licking me and being herself like she always had. She just turned 8 a few weeks before and I was so hoping she would have lived a few more years. I even sang to her, kissed her face all over , messaged her feet and caressed and held her and gave her so much love the night before she died. I had put her in her hutch for the night and said goodnight to her and I went to sleep myself. When I woke up and went to check on her, I saw her lying in her hutch and she had passed away already. I felt so bad that I wasn't with her when she died. I loved Thumper so much and will never forget what such a good and lovable rabbit she was. She will always be in my heart and I will miss forever. I will always remember what a truly wonderful rabbit she was and the happiness she gave me . I always looked forward to holding her. She always made me feel better anytime I was down or depressed or stressed. I love you Thumper !! You are truly missed. Until we meet again one day little one. So yes, I really do understand how you felt. An animal can give so much love and happiness to someone . I hope you will one day see your little one as well. First i am so sorry to hear that your bunny passed away. I raised rabbits for 43 years. I t not uncommon for house rabbits to pass sooner than rabbits raised outside. They can pick up fibers and odd things because they put everything in their mouths. It is nothing you did, rabbits are somewhat fragile.

He was lucky to have an owner like you who gave him such a good life. Sorry for your loss I know what it's like to lose a friend. It's heart breaking.

Very sorry for your lost of Mochi. It is the hardest when you don't know why they die. I too lost a rabbit 6 months after we had to remove his eye because of a bad case of glaucoma. 6 months after the removal, his health started to decline. He stopped eating and eventually died. Nothing, healthwise was wrong with him. But they called his death because of his age. He was almost 11 years old. But still hard to believe because the vet said there was no signs of any disease. I hope that you think of only fond memories of Mochi. And when the time is right, open your heart to rescue another rabbit because there are so many that need homes.😊

This happened to my rabbit 🐇 in March 25 this year 2019 I was gonna change his poop outside and I noticed his gate was open cause I usually leave him outside and it was Normal he was used to been outside and when I checked to see if he was on his cage it was open and this happened last time and I thought I lost him for good and I found him underneath my stepdads grill not turned on and when I was looking for him I was freaking out I thought he left or something and I told my mom my pet rabbit was missing and she got off the couch and helped me look for him we search the backyard and the whole front yard my mom found him and told me he was dead and I was shocked 😳 I saw his body lying on the floor With tiny blood on his head me and my mom where crying 😢 cause it hurt me so bad cause I took care of him since 2017 when he was a infant 👶 and till this day it hurts me that he’s gone I always think of him next to me on my bed with nice cuddles I wish he was here with me and my family we treated him like are own family and it hurts he’s no longer with us but I know he’s in a better place 😔😣😖😭

I feel your loss, today i took my elderly bunny for a check up at the vets, he was over 13 years old, he was a blind but happy bunny but was having issues with his eyes, nasal passages and his teeth as well as arthritis at the end, i thought i would be taking him back home, but the vet told me it was time to let him go. I didn't want him to suffer and have cried all day, we buried him in a beautiful spot in the garden under a holly tree with his own angel statue. I'm going to miss him so much.😢

Hi I just want to say I truly know how you feel. We got two pet rabbits less than a year ago. Yesterday, one of them died. She was fine in the morning, and we had her out around the house, and she was fine. She was happy and running around with her brother. Then when we went to feed her for the night, she wasn’t responding. She didn’t want to eat, and she didn’t want to move. After about an hour, she started having trouble breathing . We all hoped she would make it through the night. Everyone else decided to go to bed, but I kept checking on her every five minutes. The last time I went, she was twisting and turning and shaking and making this honking sound - she was trying so hard to breath. Then she breathed normal 2 more times and then she just stopped. I hated to have to watch her go. I’ve been crying so much. Her brother runs around the house looking for her. He even tries to seek comfort with the cat, like he would with our other bunny, but she doesn’t understand. She was so sweet and I just can’t believe she’s gone. I know it’s been a while since you lost yours, but I hope you’re doing well.
