At age 38, Flora Kee must have died during the birth of baby Mildred in 1903. Flora’s memorial on Find a Grave said she gave birth to five children and only one survived, Lillian. How heartbreaking that must have been for her. And then to pass away giving birth - I hope Flora is playing with her little ones in heaven. 🌺🧸

Wow I had my setting reminder on for this but I just slept in ha ha Ha, very cool there was a lot to unpack on this one my friend. And I mean that in a good way, I’m going to have to watch it again, lots of great stories there, I especially was intrigued with the first story of the woman murdered by the other woman, the one with the daughter -and then the daughter died so young, gosh such a tough times back then.

Rhett, I enjoyed the replay of your livestream, this was very interesting and yet fascinating the three stories that you featured in this cemetery, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. The first case of the domestic abused woman who left with her baby, was "horrific" in how the woman was murdered and daughter later dying of an illness. The man who was accused of a "despicable" crime of several women murdered and it possibly didn't even happen, period! And, the law enforcement officer who was murdered and the man charged denies he murdered the law enforcement officer. I enjoyed seeing and hearing about some of the other people, too. Great investigating, presentation and photos, I always learn alot of interesting stories from your channel. Have a fantastic weekend. Take care 🐎

Watching this video made me feel life is just so short, if someone as important as Smith Ivan Wade has been forgotten in such a short time, all of us (insignificant being) would be forgotten ever more quickly in future. A gentle reminder to not procrastinate and do whatever you want to do as soon as possible in life.

I'm from Weatherford. I was born and raised there, but I didn't and had no intentions of going to college there. my friends and I use to go to Dead Womens crossing when we were seniors in high school. Nothing really ever happens in groups, but I decided to drive over the bridge one night after work one night, I worked at T-Bone Steakhouse when it still existed, anyway I passed over the bridge right at midnight. I didn't hear any noises, but my car got extremely cold and I could see my breath even with the heat on. It felt like that until I got home after a few minutes the cold chill disappeared and I felt alone again in my car. Good times

I'm sure it was some college kid that was trying to just tell scary stories but it is interesting how it stuck. It's a very popular story in that area and never seems to go away. Hi Rhetty, this was very informative, and interesting as always. I had always heard of dead woman crossing, but had never heard the story. I haven't been active on KZfaq for some time because of my usual health problems, plus my wife and I both had this last variation of Covid. Since we are both elderly with existing health problems it was pretty hard on my wife. I didn't have it as bad, but just couldn't shake it. I have a lot of watching to do to catch up with you and your wife's video's, but I look forward to it. Also I believe the museum in Anadarko at the old railroad depot is open again. I will go over and inquire about the cemetery behind Riverside. The information will be there if it is anywhere.

My mom worked late at the nursing home and she'd pick us up at our cousin's in town to go home. We lived southeast of Dead Woman's Crossing and where the road elbowed, there was an open space. That's where a lot of college kids would gather, drink, and whatever. My mom had to drive slow through the crowd since they would be in the road standing there with beer cans in their hands. I was afraid that they would throw things or do something crazy but they didn't.

I’m from Clinton but lived in weatherford for several years. It’s common for high school kids to drive out to dead women’s crossing at night to try and see her spirit. I’ve heard a lot of stories from others about hearing her cry and globes of light floating over the bridge. Clinton has an Asylum out by the VA off of HWY 183. It still stands but it’s pretty much avoided by most people.

Hey Rhett, when you were reading the epitaph for the young man in the wheelchair, Ruffie, and then described the crime scene, I couldn't help but think about the epitaph and think if he were the murder, they wouldn't put such a loving poem on his marker. That he must be the victim of some prank. And the young wife with the child. Fanny must of been paid by the husband to kill her. That's why she had her stay at her brothers house, so she could kill her easily. That story about the Law Enforcement officer was intriguing. Great job my friend. Great research as well.

They are all strange stories. I'm not sure if Fanny knew the husband or not. Since she died we never got the answers. The estate of Mrs. James drug on for years between the father and the husband. @@RhettyforHistory True about Fanny. Robbery is out of the question since the lady with the child sill had her wedding ring. There’s a nice old cemetery in Antlers Oklahoma. It’s called Darwin Cemetery and by the Darwin Baptist Church. I spent a lot of time as a child there at the church in the 50’s. At the time it was an old wooden church built in the late 1800’s. I have an old photo of me playing in the yard of the church wearing only a diaper. My family used to maintain the Darwin cemetery each year for what was then called Decoration Day. Now it’s Memorial Day. I haven’t seen back since the 70’s, bares to many memories for me. My great grandfather’s name is in stone on the corner of the newest Darwin Baptist Church that replaced the original back in the 60’s. And now, due to health and age, I can no longer visit those who lay there but will see them again in heaven.

Ever since growing up around this place, it was always called Dead Woman's Crossing, not Dead Women Crossing. Only one woman died there. My mom had a clipping of the murder that was committed there with a woman's dead body found with no head. So many feet away was her severed head found under her hat. It wasn't really a spooky place since a bunch of us kids swam there and played till late evening. There was an old timey bridge there in the seventies with a lot of cottonwood trees. The river was cleaner then with some sandy banks a little ways north of the bridge. We never worried about hearing any paranormal noises, specter's, or anything out of the ordinary!

I wonder why the map says "Dead Women Crossing," as in plural? In the 80s, we heard the young women were hung out the third story window of Stuart Hall, which posed the question of how Ruffie in a wheelchair got up there. The only other story I heard going to SWOSU in the mid-80s was a placed called Little Viet Nam, and had trees where a coven of witches supposedly practiced. I think we had our annual marching band trash can punch party there in 1984 or 1985.

I'm not exactly sure when the first part of my family landed but I do know after some research that we had quite a few officers under Washington. There is some big time history on that part of the family that I did not know about until last year. Roads, communities, cemeteries, historic signs etc are in their names. But we have hit every campaign in America and the other side of my family has been in every campaign of the Scottish and English including to the present. I still have family over there. That side of my family didn't come to America until the early 1900s but they hit the ground running. Both my grandfathers were in WW2 along with one grandmother. I have many great aunts and great uncles that were the same. All of my great grandfathers were in WW1 whether for the British, Canadians or Americans. It's very deep but since I have all girls and they have no interest in it I think my direct blood line is ending with it. But there is still family serving both in the British, Canadian and American forces. It's almost mind blowing to think we have had family in every major war and many campaigns that the US, Canadians, English and Scottish had. It very well could have been family fighting family in the Revolutionary War, 1812 and the Civil War.
