I'm setting the record straight! This Cribbage hand was posted on an unnamed social media platform, and it sparked a huge debate that made my head explode.
Counting Cribbage hands has to be one of the hardest things to learn about the game at first, and this example perfectly illustrates why knowing the rules is so important. Honestly, I wished I was playing against some of these folks in a tournament because I'd be able to muggins them for some easy points for me!

I understand your frustration. I was a math professor for 40 years. I've quit getting involved in those order-of-operations arguments with strangers online. People are sure they're right and won't listen.

been playing crib for a wee while now and i'd never heard anyone explain that a flush in the crib has to include the cut card. thanks for the info. i will now be implementing this at home

So if I lay a 3 and I lay 7 then I lay 5 then they lay 6 then I lay 4do I get 5points

If you're talking during pegging... 3, 7 (10), 5 (15 for two), 6 (21 for three), 4 (25 for five). You don't lay all those cards, though I'm guessing.

OK I thought a 29 hand was the best you could get? But came time for my crib, I had 3 jacks and 1 five and the cut card was a jack. Playing against the computer it said 30 points.? Is that correct. And I don't remember the jack that was cut or the suit of the 5,,confused..

29 is the highest single hand possible. 3 jacks, 5, and a cut Jack would be 20. Four fifteens for 8 points and four of a kind is 12 points. If the program said 30, it may have added your pegging and/or hand to the total. What program was it?

@@sean9907 Cribbage Pro is my favorite and the one I use the most. It's super easy to use, and it has an active competitive season every few months.

Good job! Thanks for your videos! Keeping us straight! That's how we play only in hand, but I have a question 555,, is that 15, 2 points, and 15, 4 points + 6 so total of 8 or a total of 10 or? We just started playing cribbage at age 64. Always going to rule book. What would 5555 be? Every time we count this, we're not positive we are right. Thank you Sir!

You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! Three fives is 8 points. 5+5+5 = 15 for two and pair royal for 6 is 8 points. Four 5s is 4 sets of fifteen for 8 points. And then four of a kind for 12 points. So 20 total. If you go back on my channel to the 29 hand in cribbage, I count it in more detail.
