Indians do love America if not the Americans. Last I checked the 100% of indians living in America are a happy lot . The percentage of happy indians living in india will be a negligible number. For olympics, it needs to be played in at least 38 countries. Kabaddi right now is only played in 24 or so. Cricket is there in 100+ countries, even if most of them play it at a lower level.

Its streaming-rights (multiplied by) India's population that is the reason. Its all about quantity, & not so much quality.

This shows that you have no knowledge of cricket. The 5 day format is for cricket fans who know the game. The T20 format, which is the most popular gets over in 3-4 hours. There's no lunch or tea break in this format, and this is the format in which the IPL is played. IPL has become the second biggest league in the world, if it was boring, it would never have been the case. Do some research on a sport before just repeating what people with no knowledge of the game blabber

@@nikhil4437 : It is still the case with 'Test match' and actually test matches have quality. No need to get offended, I just stated the facts. I do know about the recent changes in cricket and it's leagues, following American type sports, not that there is anything wrong with it.. I grew up watching cricket for 15 years, still follow a bit. But people of India are hell bent on cricket ignoring all other national sports.

@@atgnt See, test matches are only interesting when you have been watching cricket for a while. When I was younger, I used to think test matches as boring. But I realised that it is the best format of cricket, because the pitch conditions, moving ball and the duration bring in so many challenges for the players and only the best can survive there. It's like Le Mans in racing. This is why best of the best players prefer test cricket. However, test cricket is not the format which can become global. When a match between a strong side and a weak side is played, it becomes incredibly boring. That's why T20 format is the only format which can become global. IPL is played in the T20 format and it is a carnival which most people would enjoy. The reason why other sports haven't succeeded that much in India is not just limited to Cricket. It's because of the lack of sporting facilities, government control of those sports and their apathy towards it. It's only this decade that we are seeing people do well in other sports in India. It will get better with time. But blaming Cricket for every issue is wrong

That is one thing India definitely needs to learn from US, various sports that are played and encouraged in the country right from elementary schools and quality of the games being played whether it is NFL or NBA or NHL and then many olympic sports. Not complaining on Cricket, still like this sport. I do agree that Test matches have the quality and the game, needs some way of result not draw.

@@atgnt This year's Asian Games was great for Indian sports. We got over 100 medals with 25+ golds. The gap between developed countries like South Korea, Japan and a developing nation India was lesser this time. Good to see this growth. India will definitely compete with USA and China in the next 20-30 years
