For people wondering, here's the final score: WI - 291-8 (60 overs) AUS - 274 (58.4 overs) WI wins by 17 runs
@mombaassa

Do you know, how many balls per over, for this one? I remember in the 1979 WC Final, each innings was 40 overs with each over comprising 8 deliveries. In those days in Australia and New Zealand, we were using 8-ball overs. Became confusing in '78. The "rebel", Packer series were using 6-ball overs, while official matches stuck with 8 per over.

@@mombaassa wow, wasn't aware of this Although I'm not sure about how many balls an over was used in this match According to Wikipedia, no. of balls in England from 1946 to date is 6 per over
@mombaassa
@mombaassa 2 ай бұрын
@@ShagunSuvarna2006 I definitely remember 8 balls per over, being used in the '79 Prudential World Cup. As a child, I multiplied the number of overs (40) by the number of deliveries in each, to calculate that each team would face 320, legal deliveries. Unfortunately, I did not see the first World Cup. In the 1970's, cricket was not that popular a sport, in New Zealand. I got a real shock, when we migrated to Australia in '77. All the boys played cricket. I didn't even know the names of the fielding positions!!

It was 60 overs each for the 75/79/83 World cups so almost certainly 6 ball overs (360 balls rather than 480). @@mombaassa

Hello, dear friend-mate 👋☺️ I'm watching all knockouts now, just finished watching the incredible 1975 Final 😊 Whatta catch by RODNEY MARSH of TONY GREIG in 1975 1st SEMIS 🤯🥵 Actually CHRIS OLD bowled such incredible to reduce AUS to 32/6 or so. After that, all he should've done is to pitch the ball viciously near the toe of the batsman, possibly from round the wicket to left hander, or in general from over the wicket side of each batsman stance (meaning from rightward for RHB, and leftward off wicket for LHB) 😊 GILMOUR facing yorkers from round the wicket, was easily a gonner.... Atleast I'd have clearly enforced this strategy to that bowler, had I been the captain or teammate ☺️ And talking about this match, the stance and operative strokeplay of SIR ALVIN KALLICHARRAN clearly tells that SUNIL GAVASKAR is his clone 🥵🙄😊 By the way, these grounds are SO SO LARGE square off the wicket, that only MIGHTIEST WINDIES, then 1990s MIGHTY AUS and our SIR KAPIL YASHPAL MOHINDER SANDEEP etc. and SACHIN SEHWAG YUVRAJ DHONI like strong sturdy players can dare to clear the fence 🥵😭😫 Those 5 runouts prove that WINDIES were exceptional even in aiming the stumps from fairly long distances, and excellent even in catching as well. Although this isn't their finest pace battery together now, they convincingly won the Final. And LEGEND SIR CLIVE LLOYD like pioneers should be the ideal role models for every cricket youngsters now, especially of India because there's absolute rarity of FITTEST PACE ALLROUNDERS ever since KAPIL DEV !!!!! ☹️😊

I have doubts whether they can really win one v one against 2003 Australia side, this is a good win by West Indies and perhaps their best but not like Pontings invincible side they not merely won the World Cup but they humiliate everyone who stood before this is a good win but not outplaying the other side which 03 Aussies did in every single game but nice footage of that golden generation of West Indies players
