I won't call it an upset. Zimbabwe had good batters and good bowlers in that squad of 1999. South Africa has had a history of losing to lesser sides in WC.

Zimbabwe cricket - and world cricket - is yet to make up for the loss of Neil Johnson and Goodwin Murray. They were on the cusp of becoming a top 5 team back then. Sadly nowadays even South Africa doesn't make it to the top 5 sometimes.
