Since 2003, at least 20 Singaporean women have unknowingly been made used of by their African boyfriends to courier drugs. Some of them have landed in prison or will face the death penalty. Watch Crime Watch for a true story of how one such Singapore woman was duped into becoming a drug mule for her "boyfriend".

There is no innocent drug couriers. They have been offered large amount of money to bring unknown things. Everyone should have known that this is suspicious.

They did not show Japan's Narita Airport. It is Singapore's Changi Airport with the help of actors who knows how to act as Japanese customs officer. It doesn't take a genius to notice that. :D

I support the death penalty for a very limited number of crimes (rape, torture, kidnap, murder) and dependent on the context. I also think that the death penalty is good for drug traffickers as it seriously reduces the prevalence of the crime, and serves as justice for the millions of families: wives, husbands, children and parents whose lives were ruined by drugs even though they didn't take the drugs, and also for those with mental health issues such as depression who self-treat using illicit drugs because they are available, causing their condition to spiral out of control. When it comes for drugs trafficking I am very nervous about the application of the death penalty though. When I cross borders, which I do around 100 times a year some years due to my job, I am always nervous someone has slipped something in my bag or something. Because the other crimes that warrant the death penalty are proven by nature that the person who did them was guilty, drugs trafficking guilt is proven with controlled substances on one's person or personal effects- and I know so many cases of suitcases being lined with drugs by other people, slipping drugs into another passenger's bag in the air to let them cross the baggage check then get it back later, friends who holiday together putting drugs they bought in that country in the other's baggage etc.

I agree with you, and yes drug traffickers should still be punished harshly, but not with capital punishment though. I have a problem, a big problem, with the wrong people (innocent persons) being sentenced to death. If, on the other hand if it's a murderer or a terrorist then there is complete and absolute proof and links to the suspects and the crimes (e.g. DNA evidence), I don't give a fuck about them and they thus deserve to die in hell. This is why I don't travel to or transit through Southeast Asia and certain corrupt countries, especially those with the death penalty for drug trafficking and other non-violent crimes. I don't do drugs and that crap, never did and never will, but I constantly hear shit about tourists' baggage in countries like Thailand having weed or heroin added to them by their corrupt scum baggage handlers. I was going to consider trips to Vietnam and Thailand, but now I'm having second thoughts. I never use zipper bags for checked luggage, as these can be opened with a pen - I use hard case latch-lock types. When I pack my luggage I would even unzip the cover sleeve on the interior of the suitcase and thoroughly check the luggage down to the frame with a flashlight before closing and locking my suitcase, binding it tightly with rope and tying special knots, and sealing the latches with uniquely-colored tamper-proof tape so as to be an effective deterrent against crooked unscrupulous baggage handlers or TSA/airport security workers who steal. They can go fuck with another bag that way and they will not want to waste time with a bag like mine, and if in the extremely rare case I do find mine open I will know and then report it to customs at the red line at my destination country.

About the girl who was incarerated in the UK, was she incarcerated in HMP Holloway, North London? If not that, was it the one where Myra Hindley or Rose West was held.

And they still get sentenced unjustly for just being duped, where is the justice? Mules are being used unknowingly duped, and they have to face the consequences? Actually possession yes but without knowledge and intention to traffic. No DNA of the mule on the drug itself will be soild proof that the mule is just being used. But still, they will face the same sentence also, justice is indeed blind.

hey hey! nice points you make but wrong choice of words,its true that Singaporean women are abit more loyal for foreigner men than Singaporean man. But the same can also be said for men who prefer foreign women. The takeback? While foreigners are enticing to you, its still better to have locals instead, at least you'll have a lifetime of happiness instead of a short-lived moment of joy accomodated by cheating and becoming a scapegoat, just like this woman

I am medical scientist/academic with a PhD and many singaporean students at uni. I am not even from a country with a negative history with singapore, but still because of such narrow mindedness i am picked out of a line each time and harsed by customs officers with bad breath and poor communications skills. When you meet someone new, take your time getting to know them before you give them all of your trust. You need to know about their friends, family, upbringing, childhood, past hurts, past success, fears, finances, arrest records, and employment. You shouldn't judge the past too hard, but there shouldn't be any big secrets if you are traveling with this person. If it doesn't make sense or feel right, then trust your instincts. Also, the scary people in life come from everywhere. They're not just African. Africans are the same as everyone else. There's good and there's bad, everywhere.
