They all need to watch one flew over the cuccoo’s nest. If you aren’t actually insane then they’ll find out eventually, and they don’t understand that they will be surrounded by people way more unstable than those in jail, and you’ll feel way more isolated due to the gap in mentality. It’s crazy how tik tok is really the perfect storm of incentive for kids doing ridiculous stupid crap. I know it’s not all kids, but the ones whose parents don’t care what they’re doing online basically have unfettered access to the whole of the internet, including the predatory parts. Part of this is a tik tok problem, they KNOW that it’s primarily kids using the app and they don’t regulate any of this ridiculous crap these kids see, but it is primarily the parents fault.

I agree it's primarily the parents fault, and I also agree it's partly TikTok's fault. Earlier this month, we had schools closing in my state because of Tiktoks that were going around saying it was national school shooting day, and that kids should shoot their schools up. I had actually seen videos on Tiktok about it long before our school district sent out a letter, so imo Tiktok should've taken more caution and taken those videos encouraging it down. However, the amount of parents who responded to the school district in social media and said they had no idea this was being talked about, yet their kids knew about it, was highly alarming. Tiktok needs to create and enforce a much better set of guidelines than it currently has now, and parents need to get off their behinds and actually monitor their kids' internet usage.

The devious lick trend was literally making me stop myself from stealing, as I've been a kleptomaniac for so long, since I was a small kid. I see something, and my brain immediately tells me to steal it. That trend was stressing me out so much, and I kept telling myself "what if I accidentally stole something? Would I get caught? I will. Omg I need to check my bag-" almost constantly. Happy to announce I only stole a single elastic band from an art class, because it was under the table and I couldn't stop myself. I later put it back, like- a month later. Kleptomania and anxiety do not mix well together-

These are teens not I don’t blame the parents as there is no possible way for them to know about these apps it dosent get recommded to them , they don’t know the child is using it , even if they know about it and restrict it the kid will find a way around it if the parent chooses to spy on what the kid watches , does on his device the parent looks like a strict bad parent to the net schools just be teaching what the internet can do so the future generations will have the knowledge about it. Yea there’s nothing the parents can do except get called a strict parent or a bad parent. I don’t think I’m gonna blame the parents as it’s like so rare for the parents to know about the app if they spy on Thier kid they will get called a bad parent , strict parent , creep. If they restrict stuff the child will find a way around it (I have a story of myself who went around 8 restricted apps at age of 8) so No and Yes parents don’t teach kids stuff like this they don’t want them to get possible trauma it’s the school who should take this responsibility my class teacher had taught us the importance of net and what it can do at age of 10 and I left the social media sites to Save myself But the parents should care enough to take care of the kids after the school gave them a call about thier kids

I remember when the ‘devious lick’ trend was going around, a student was caught stealing a whole towel dispensers from my school and lots of other students got caught taking coffee and personal items from the teachers lounge, which was an open area in my school with a wall border, now we can’t go to the bathroom and if we do we have to be monitored by an adult which causes its own problem cause multiple students said that some off the staff were looking in the stalls as they used the restroom and most of them became uncomfortable which is understandable. We also had to use a sign up sheet and put or names, school ids, and the time stamps if we ever left the classroom. Any of these things can make students uncomfortable but due to the actions of others we all had to suffer in such a way.

Young teenagers and children lack in making informed choices hence why they always need adult permission or are protected by the law to consent or partake in purchasing alcohol etc... @@cadds8055 That is not what I meant. Parenting would have some cause (Not teaching your kids that they shouldn't do something just bc they saw it on the internet or because others are doing it, teaching them why certain things they see online might be harmful or illegal.) Attention likely plays a big factor, how much attention are the kids who do these challenges getting from their parents? Humans are social creatures, we need one another, so these kids may be doing the challenges to try and get the attention they crave and leaving their morals at the door. That need of attention might be greater than them being able to think if it is okay to do it or not.

Teen's brains aren't nearly fully developed, the decision-making and risk-assessment part specifically isn't. I think parents need to teach the kids about the dangers, repercussions, etc. of these behaviors as well as try to get them to understand online validation isn't worth it. But TikTok also needs to step up it's game on punishing this behavior so they can't go viral in the first place. Not everyone has parents who are present, or parents who understand anything about TikTok.

I don't believe all kids are bad, but all kids want to be accepted by friends and that makes them do things they wouldn't otherwise do. Not many people go through challenges that help them grow because there's always someone there to make the booboo better. I KNOW it's not easy to navigate life without guidance. GIVE a person a fish, they're fed for a moment. TEACH a person to fish, they're fed as long as they can reel in the fish. I've worked with too many people who don't do anything because they've always gotten someone else to do it for them. FORGET THAT BULLCRAP! If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. Time? Its a mixture of the app and parenting. Your video also reminded me of the ice bucket trend, i still have a video of my dad doing this! it was an actually good trend.

I am a year 9 student in the UK and I have very few friends because I take school seriously and do not participate in things like tiktok challenges. One of the most recent "trends" is pretend fainting in class to disrupt the lesson and it works. In some cases teachers even called medical help because they thought students were in danger. The worst bit is this always happens to the sweetest, kindest teachers because they are the ones who care and take it seriously. I just wish kids would stop i am starting some of my GCSE courses next year and I just want to be able to concentrate.

1:00 I half agree on this. I was entertained most of my life and too much has caused me to be lazy. There's other reasons for other people. I was neglected by my own free will into watching entertainment. That's basically my whole "training" for my entire life. Humans are biologically trained randomly and for anything. My childhood really like to watch movies and play video games. The US does state for freedom and independance, but I really don't see any of those words anywhere.

I don't blame the parents in this situation, these kids are literally like 15+ years old, they should know that committing a literal crime isn't worth 16 likes on Tik-Tok. And if they genuinely think it through and still do it, their hopeless... 🗿

That's great that TT has put out this pamphlet about the app. The problem comes from TT also not sticking to their own TOS...I had actually seen a child po*n vid on my fyp. I reported the vid and received a message from them saying there was no violation. The pamphlet means nothing when nothing is done on the platform.

Tiktok honestly would’ve been better if Trump banned it I’m sorry😭it’s continuously getting worse and people have died. Not to mention the lack of parenting also plays a huge role in this.

I think that the reason for this is because teens nowadays like myself feel deprived of attention from their classmates and peers.. they feel left out when they hear how many followers their classmates have and it makes them feel insecure so they try to do the most crazy thing that can gain views.. I don’t have tik tok thankfully but I kinda want it just so I can watch funny videos
