I love your thoughtful channel. I am ARMY (76 years old)! My son and I saw SUGA's movie. It was the first time I was with other ARMYs and I was reassured that there are other ARMYs that are in my age group.

I watched the movie twice, April 12 and 13. April 12 there were only about 10 people watching. But April 13 the theater was full with ARMYs with their army bomb and my heart was so happy seeing and being with my second family BTS and ARMY.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I saw the movie last Saturday with my daughter and granddaughter and there was about 25 people there. My granddaughter and I had our Army Bombs and half the others did too. It was a really nice time but about half way through I started to get sad. I couldn't explain it then but you explained it in this review. It was goodbye to THIS Yoongi not just for MS but possibly forever. He will come back better...but different. HE is the only member I saw in concert and paid a ridunculous amount of money to do it and had the ABSOLUTE BEST EXPERIENCE of 2023. I love them all but hold my Daegu Boys close to my heart and await their return. ❤❤

As always, you bring insights that I hadn't thought about. Thank you. I am relatively new to BTS, but Suga and his solo work in particular has really resonated with me personally. Rap has been the only style of music I really didn't like... until Suga/Agust D. The Amygdala MV could be my story, told better than I ever could. So I saw this concert in person and watched every livestream and replay of these concerts that Suga made available. How he put together the show and performed was unlike any concert I've attended (and I've attended hundreds of concerts). The emotions you felt at the movie was my experience watching the Day 3 encore concert on the livestream (at 4 am). Things he didn't share in the movie were the parts when he laid himself totally bare, cried and screamed out his emotions cathartically, and then walked through the Amygdala door showing he has healed, he overcame the locked door and let himself out. He is closing this chapter and walking into the new chapter with a smile promising the Future's gonna be ok. I will never, ever forget that feeling - how do you feel so connected to someone you have never met and will never meet? How do you feel so connected to the hundreds of people you have never met in the chat going through the same emotions with you? I wasn't sure about reliving those emotions in the movie, but those parts were not included and I'm actually glad. I felt like the movie was really his encore... the celebration of moving forward... the gift to Army that only he could give, as you said... the chance to come together again while we wait. It was perfect.

This tour was such a gift. And I'm in my 50s and I've been to a LOT of concerts and I have never seen anything like this show and I doubt I ever will again. I never stop noticing new things and being in awe of his creative vision.

the thumbnail of Yoongi, it is so beautiful! I keep stumbling across people saying 'we have to keep up the pressure on HYBE by boycotting'. I am floored by this. What does Suga have to do with the actions of HYBE? he is an artist. appreciate him as such.

"At that moment it felt like he was reminding me or everybody else that before life humbled us, before pain took over, before trauma damaged us - there were parts of us who were brave and bright and hopeful and excited for life and other parts that we forgot because we had to live and we had to survive on a daily basis and we had to get over the things that pained us and and hurt us. It was that moment when I felt like he was telling everybody - come on now, you need to go back to all of that. Don't lose that because that's all part of you." 😭 No, really. I was at a point where not only did I not realise that I had given up on happiness and hope, I was even afraid of them. He gives me so much of joy and hope but also holds my hand through it. I owe him so much. 😭 The relationship between BTS and ARMY is something you just have to experience. People need to give love, but they also need to trust someone to receive that love well. I'm a cynical person and if someone had just told me about it, I would probably have been sceptical. But the core of BTS is their authenticity, their love and their vulnerability. Even if they don't personally know us or we don't completely know who they are - we know and are bonded by the most vulnerable parts of each other. There's not really a familiar template to something like this. It's something that's difficult even with people you've known for years in this day and age. I couldn't have been able to do it - it takes so much courage to be that vulnerable with your every move being put under a microscope, it feels nearly impossible. And yet, we have BTS.

Thank you again for your comments. I felt Suga took total control of the stage. It seemed like we really got to see authentic Yoongie perform. He did what he wanted and did it so well. I agree, military will undoubtedly affect the guys. Major changes in our lives do that. But I think they will still be the same guys we love and respect. Hopefully, they will still have their sense of humor. I know they will still have their talent. I miss them terribly but as the song says, life goes on. 2025 can’t come soon enough as I am approaching my 8th decade and their concert is on my bucket list.😊💜🇺🇸

I already talked a bit here of my first movie experience from the 10th. I enjoyed it a lot, but was a little frustrated. But when I watched it for the second time on the 13, I was so happy. The second theater was an IMAX, the sound and image were awsome. I was no more frustrated, maybe because I knew what I I was going to have or maybe because I was no longer sad...or less sad (I miss him so much and his bros). Your commentary explains well why I was emotional the first time, however my emotion was not transmitted by tears, but by a little annoyance I guess. And this annoyance or frustration is a lesson for their comeback. The members will not be the same after their MS. We as ARMY were trained for years to expect the unexpected in terms of music, but this time, it will be them. People change as I change, but my love doesn't, it grows.

Like you , all i could do was cry. There was one other older lady like me and she was crying also, so we ended up together just crying and enjoying his music. For me, it was so traumatic, as a baby of 7, all my brothers were in the military and Yes, it does change a man. But seeing as they are not going to war, i pray its not as radical a change as I've seen. To me, it was watching a young man that I've grown to fill a sort of closeness to grow up. Become an even better kind of human. I've always called him the Soul man, cause he is so into his interself and his life. As a person thats been thru many rough years in my life, i can feel that connection to him. He gives off his vibe so that fans can hopefully see we all have different kinds of happenings in our life, some good but some bad. You have to decided within your ownself how you are going to go. Grow or decline....get thru it, over it, or let it rule you. He shows us how he has dealt with it and that you can make it. Like you, i felt a sense of goodbye to his old self. Which made me sad. Its hard to let things go and its hard to except change. But in life you must. Thank you for your insight, i really enjoyed it hun. Wishing you many Blessings for your kindness you always show to us. Take Care 🫰💜💜💜 🫰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I saw the documentary also this last weekend with a bunch of ARMYs and then we went to dinner! You are so wonderful at expressing in words what I feel about BTS and their craft and what they themselves seem to be expressing to us. The one thing I came away from the concert and really the whole tour and also Suchwita is Yoongi’s growth and maturity and ability to actually share and express his feelings knowing that they will be accepted (at last?) by everyone. Your saying that he is at a place where he feels confident in where he is in life and what gifts he has seems to be on display in spades! And I came away feeling like I finally really knew who he was. He came out of his shell and showed us his artistry, his showmanship, his stamina, his intelligence, and his kindness and cute side as well. I think ARMY fell more in love with him this last year. He is my bias wrecker now! 💜💜💜

not necessarily a shell of his own making. He fulfilled his obligations of being a member of 7, while working his song-making magic in the studio behind the scenes. Not ever having watched all the BTS produced shows and features, I don't know if HYBE ever showcased his contributions. If any body knows of a link to a good SUGA BIO, I'd love to catch up. I agree @subobing3551: that I came away feeling I knew more about Min Yoongi. but need to fill in the blanks.

The world is becoming so dark and brutal and his concert theme dealt with these themes. His August D survived, but hope for a better world did not. ALL of BTS members have control, they own a very large portion of HYBE. I get so angry when people post "HYBE respect "Taehyung, Jimin etc.." At NO time are any member neglected. They have all 7 stated that THEY decided how their solo projects were written, produced and promoted. HYBE provides the money to do it but don't think for a second, they don't have to personally pay for studio time, they do! No member of BTS is left behind, ignored, treated bad etc... All 7 members of BTS also have very large, extensive and expensive Entertainment Contracts in which a lawyer over sees and if for one second, they were not honored the lawyers would be all over that. These contracts state what BTS members are to get from HYBE and what HYBE is expected to do for BTS members/group. All the way from what is in their green rooms, how many albums, health care, promotions, photoshoots, modeling, acting, security, who pays for what, how much they will make for every single item (toys, merch, albums, how much they make per view of a KZfaq video, photos, tv time) you name it, it is in there, down to the smallest details. Suga is an amazing man that is so talented! He raps, sings, dances, produces, directs, creates, writes lyrics and music, plays several instruments. I just hope that he can one day look in the mirror and see just how amazing he really is.

I did get to chat with one of the people at the end on the way out which was nice. The tears did stream a bit for me too, but I didn't really understand why at the time. Thank you again for a great video. Yes, military service changes everyone and I really hope that all the BTS members are able to find their way back to being the great team that they have been, and remain as the beautiful humans they have been too! He arrived through the door from Amygdala at the start of the tour and left through that door at the end of his tour. That kills me. It makes me cry every time I see it or even think about it really. I went to the movie on the 13th, the theater was pretty full. I went alone because I don't know anyone personally who is ARMY. This was the first time I've been to something BTS related - my exposure to them has been private. I'm an older ARMY and thought I'd feel self-conscious, but of course I didn't because ARMY is the best. I cried with Life Goes On, Amygdala and The Last. I cheered, sang along, danced in my seat. There was one narrated part where he said, "I'm not sure I deserve this attention." I yelled out, "Yes, you do!"

Thank you for a great analysis, but I feel it was of the concert and not the film. I went to both. The concert was amazing and I’d hoped the movie would recapture that. But it missed the mark for me. It wasn’t a long film, so they could have included everything on stage but they cut songs, while I saw the concert in LA I assume he did People in Seoul. I missed his interaction with the audience and ARMYs. The movie fads to black between songs. And the tattoo reveal is iconic, they should have shown it. The stage pieces lifting up leaving him on one piece for Amygdala and the floor for the final songs is such an amazing part of the concert which isn’t featured in the film. And lastly, would love to have seen him walk through the door at the end.

This movie shortened 2 hrs into 1.5 hr and edited 3 days of concert into one. It would be hard to include everything. It also meant to have a serious tone, and that's why it probably didn't include the things you said.

I hear what you are saying and I commented above on the differences I also felt. I was glad I went to the movie twice (and saw the concert live and on multiple livestreams). I analyzed it the first time to figure out why he chose what he did for the movie and then just enjoyed it the second time. He did People at the Encore concerts (The only setlist change he made between his tour and the Encore concerts is that he replaced Polar Nights with My Dear Friend for the live concerts). I was disappointed People was one of the songs cut to make room for Jimin's Tony Montana from Encore Day 2 and RM's extra song Strange (JK sang Burn It which was part of the setlist), but it was a small concession. I felt like Suga did a good job of making the movie more generally understandable and celebratory. Some of the things not included were almost too personal between him and Army and wouldn't have the same impact if put permanently into the movie. But like you, I would really have liked to have seen him walk through that Amygdala door again. (edited to remove incorrect information)

I was unable to see the movie. I hope it will come around to streaming. I understand your tears for Suga and yourself. I love your take on his journey. I have felt much the same observations over the years. Suga, my supreme bias wrecker, stole me from the beauty of Jimin’s dancing, Tae’s velvet voice and JK’s everything. Suga won me completely with his powerful prose. I want so much for him to grow, flourish and experience all the joys of life. His struggles reflected much of my personal journey as an introvert masked as a public person (even on my small broadcast journalism/PR stage). Now, I’m learning to reclaim those pieces of my identity unacceptable to the expectations of family and society. I’m at an age where if I truly want to believe in the power of my own words, I am running out of time. I will not live forever. So, I’m mining the volumes of my writings that I have set aside repeatedly in service of others. It’s now my time to claim the authenticity of my own life. To own my courage against the critics who minimized me to make themselves feel larger. To believe my cheerleader’s calls to believe in myself. To leave a legacy to my children and any who will stumble across the works of my little life. He’s helped fuel my energy to get to work.

He cares about the younger generation and has a soft spot for his elders. His music always heals even when addressing haters you can still find a connection. I have PTSD, OCD and severe Social anxiety. I’m an introvert with no friends at the age of 50. I felt nothing could offer me solace and an escape from not only my mental health but physically I’m unwell too, until BTS!. And MIN YOONGI captured my heart. Thank you for this analysis. I watched the movie in IMAX on the 10th with a lot of other ARMY. It was a good look back on his final concert days...the gift he left for ARMY. I am fortunate in having a video of the complete last day of his FINAL tour. I love Suga, for his raw humanity, I love jimin for his flirty sexy ways, his unique lovely voice, his beautiful dance, J-Hope for his happy, positive hopfull gift of Hope to us all. RM for his talent and sexy brain, Jin for his sense of right and wrong his sense of humor and his silver voice, V for well, V, and JK for his bright shining heart and warm welcoming personality and of course his voice. I disagree about saying goodbye to to Yoongi, I think he was saying goodbye to Agust-D I think that's why he walked through that door. It's chapt 2. My daughter and I went on Saturday 13th. There were about 50 people in the audience. We had a wonderful time. The audience would clap after every song. At the same time my sister attended in another city. We all thoroughly enjoyed it very much. Even though it was a relatively small number of people in that one theatre, I would think that all the cinema numbers collectively totalled would make a respectable number of people who saw it over the 2 days. I am grateful to have the opportunity to see them on a big screen as seeing a concert live is a dream at present.

Knowing now that he was suffering with poor health makes this stage even more unbelievable. He is beautiful, thoughtful, and engaging with the audience. When he plays the piano and guitar it is truly magical. I cannot wait for his return with BTS- it is going to be awe-inspiring. I hope this means BTS will have seven vocals, seven dancers, and we already know they have seven visuals. He looks amazing in this film and we get to see him up close- love it. He is my favorite of all time lol. I so wish I could have seen him live but the movie was great. I’m assuming they didn’t show the VCR’s and other things due to time constraints? I so wanted to see it all but it was fantastic 💜

Thank you for this review. Both it and the beautiful comments help sooth the sting of not being able to see M.Y. Suga's D-Day Movie. I saw the concert online, and I hope to one day experience Bangtan live in person, but until then, I treasure these moments 🥰💜😊

I love your analysis and insight- not just of D Day and Suga- but all your commentary on BTS! 💕 I saw the D Day movie and loved it! There were only nine of us.. no dancing, unfortunately ..lol! I’ve been following BTS since 2020 and still trying to understand the early years and struggles they’ve had- especially Suga. He expresses his pain so deeply and passionately. I was never into rap… but for Suga and BTS I am!☺️ It amazes me how young they are still, and yet able to process and articulate their entire journey. Absolutely the military will change them! They will not be the same BTS we’ve come to know- but I am so looking forward to following them into the next chapter! Especially for Suga because he has put his angst behind him. Perhaps next he’ll be rapping about lovers instead of haters!🥰😆 Thank you again for your great analysis! I look forward to hearing more from you. I’m sure the best is yet to come! 💜

Thank you for your well thought of commentary. I has helped me to “see” the film I missed the movie bcse I became ill, so I give my ticket away, but I watched all the concerts streamed. I hope they make the movie a product soon. Suga is amazing as an artist, producer and song/rap writer; unique as each of his 6 BTS brothers are; I do expect the MS will have an effect in them, as individuals becoming full grown men living an “ordinary experience” all Korean men live; something completely unusual for them since they join BigHit Entertainment from 2011 onwards. One thing is for sure, it will be for the better and we, ARMY, will reap the benefits as we always do 🫶🏼💜🤡💜💜

Thank you so much for talking about this, I love him so much. I don't know that I've ever respected an artist as much as I respect him. I hope he's doing well. I am so thankful that he gave this to us.

Since you have seen the movie you know that it wasn't exactly the capture of the last concert, but an amalgamation of the last three (I saw all of them on livestream). We got all of the BTS member features with JungKook, Jimin, and RM, but not their solo turns, and we didn't get the second set from the last concert where Yoongi broke down and sobbed through Snooze, Dear My Friend, and Amygdala. I was actually glad for that because it was so sad to watch, even though he came back composed for the encore. So the versions of Snooze and Amygdala were from one of the previous days and they left Dear My Friend out entirely. At the end they only showed a glimpse of him in the white door--in actuality it was so freaking cathartic to watch him easily open it, wave to us, and walk through. And of course, he did a friendship 7 tattoo reveal during the encore that's not in the movie (it's on his left shoulder, right near the surgery scar). Just an amazing emotional experience for ARMYs, but less meaningful for casual fans, so probably why they left all of that out. I also wish they had included the changes made to the stage--it starts out covering the arena floor, but after each song pieces of it were lifted on chains into the ceiling, so the stage became progressively smaller. By the time he hits Amygdala, the last song before the break and encore, it's down to a panel the size of the set for the Amygdala MV. After the hooded dancers carry his inert body offstage, that lifts off too, and the encore is sung from the arena floor, cluttered with equipment. While I wish that the movie was more like the concert, it was great to see him again, and a lovely ARMY who was there sharing gifts gave me a pair of red chopsticks! Thank you, ARMY!

I am very new to BTS and due to my age have seen many groups come and go. Some were devastating when they ended. This will be one of those. But how can anyone who followed this group from the beginning ever have hate. They are all about loving and caring and shared so much. How can anyone not wish them well as they go on with their own lives. Different, yes. Change is a part of life and something good always comes out of it. Enjoy what they have given, give them love for loving you and wish them all well.

In reading the comments I felt sad that some of the showings had such small attendance. I wonder if it was because of the boycott. I saw many posts on twitter urging people not to attend the movie and they were sure they would be able to see it at a later date. Another suggestion on twitter was to buy a ticket for a different movie and sneak into D-Day so it wouldn't show as sold tickets. It seems that BTS is really being targeted more than any HYBE group. That's just my observation.

I felt like he was saying goodbye to Agust D, not Min Yoongi. He said over and over that this was the end of Agust D, that he didn't need that persona anymore. Why do you think he was saying goodbye to Min Yoongi?

WE ARE BOYCOTTING HYBE NOT YOONGI OR BTS!!! THEY ARE EVERYTHING TO ARMY! WE LOVE THEM MORE THAN EVERYTHING! WE'RE SORRY WE HAD TO GET TO THIS POINT. HOPE BTS AS SOON AS THEY GET OUT OF MILITARY THEY MAKE THEIR OWN COMPANY WITH THEIR MANAGEMENT CHOSES WITH ALL CARE IN THE WORLD FOR OUR FAMILY, WITHOUT CRAZY CAPITALISTS AND ZIONISTS

Do you need to scream by using all caps? BTW, seems that you don’t know that Hybe IS their own corporation (each member is a shareholder); a corp born from the BTS label BigHit Entertainment, which became BigHitMusic after Hybe was formed. BHM is a privately owned company, 100% independent from Hybe. The above is well know by ARMY, so your confusion is telling
