Going Keyleth: "We're not heroes. We're not special. We're just people." Keyleth, later: "We're basically gods." And people say Keyleth had no character development. (For the record, I love Keyleth. Just making a joke.)

I felt like several key moments at this panel were all made even better for viewing with your edits. Like the captions for the wine incident and the video-sync with Matt's Gollum; being there in person, I would've been bothered by not knowing what Marisha had initially tried to say, and that Matt was reciting actual lines from a scene would have flown over my head. So thank you Critical Scope for all the work you do.

Timestamps for the fan questions! * 26:50: Matt, where da Auzzies at?! * 27:42: In the Pre-Stream adventures, was there anything that VM could have done to prevent the release of Thordak? * 29:55: What was it like to DM for Vin Diesel? (Marisha thinks she's in Beauty and the Beast at 32:20) * 33:05: How much of your personalities goes into your characters/stories? * 35:42: Will we ever see the backstories of Gilmore and Allura that Matt wrote? (Segues into a talk about secrets Matt's keeping from VM and a post-campaign wish of his) * 38:05: Any personal favourite trick/cursed item? (Matt proves that no, he *doesn't* know everything ;) ). * 39:30: Where do you draw the line when it comes to fanart/fanfic? * 41:15: Matt, what would you do if you woke up and, 20 minutes before a session, realised you have nothing prepared? * 44:40: What're the chances of a Critical Role Telltale game, and if it was happening, who would it follow and when? * 47:15: Can you do a Gollum voice? * 48:05: If Keyleth could, what would she multiclass into? * 50:40: *It's High Noon...* * 51:35: Are the interactions something you've worked on over the years so that the show isn't just combat?

'97? Dark Days? I started playing in prehistoric times by that scale, in 1976-7, when we switched from Chainmail to the Original Box. Still, in all of those years I have never seen as good a Game Master as Mr. Mercer. It goes so far beyond the wonderful voices and characters, and obvious hours he spends in preparation. the way he gets interrupted, a lot, and smiles through it. the way he is so sublimely and considerately extremely evil, while never getting nasty or mean. the way he challenges his players without being antagonistic to them. just so many ways that I wish he could clone himself and move one of them here, so that I could play with him. I am not a fraction of the DM he is, and I really do try. pardon me, I do not usually gush like that. with that being said, I must reiterate that I think Matt is the best DM of all of the current crop of online DM's, including Chris Perkins with absolutely no offense to him. He did come to play with Vox Machina remember, so I think he might agree. this is not to say there are not a number of great games going on, but Critical Role is the Stairway To Heaven. is it Thursday yet?

So, you remember the time when we had to GM without the internet even existing, eh? I started around the mid 80s with a native gaming system that was in no way better than original D&D - meaning it was pretty shitty, tbh. The darkness of those days still holds a certain charm, though. It was a good, welcoming and very warm darkness. Even beyond the illustrations... ;-D And I also didn't encounter anybody like Matt before, but I had a few amazing GMs, a few of which played only one league below him. I got real lucky at times.

Steve. The shop is called... Steve Does Silvering" lmao X'D we thought it was great though, we ran in there going "STEEEEVE!" in the dorkiest way we could and Steve had a terrible hick accent, it was amazing

I find it way easier to listen to than when panels are held in Sydney. Foreigners probably can't hear it, but our accent is way more nasal and twangy overall for NSW folks (from what I've noticed). I mean, we move around, and everyone's different, but in general I find I can tell a convention is being held down south. It was kind of refreshing to hear accents I'm used to every day.

As much as I like Telltale games and Critical Role, I don't think it would be a good idea. Imho Tales from the Borderlands was their best game yet and it was a commercial failure because the overestimated the wider appeal of the franchise. What would really be great (not my idea btw) would be a Firefly game with all the original actors of the show that can flesh about a bit more of that longer story arc we missed.

I actually did stumble upon a player fanfic like they mention. I was excited at first (IRL headcannons can get so funny and dumb sometimes) but then I realized what was going on and by the time I managed to disrupt my horrified reading stupor, I was done reading the piece. Out of respect and wanting to avoid serious weirdness while watching the gang play and do panels, I decided to never again look for CR fanfic and to avoid it if I came across it anywhere else.

The "cow thing" is hardly something someone should be criticized for not knowing about. Critical role is very niche. Not many people have the time to keep up/catch up with 3-5 hour episodes of a tabletop game. Have some perspective.

I'm not putting the blame solely on the host, I think it's a shame that the organizers of the event couldn't even find someone who might know a bit about the show. Also, for me it didn't help that she had about as much energy and enthusiasm as a brick.
