Travis helped inspire me to make a change and start taking care of myself. December of 2017 I was 118,5 kg (261.25 lb) had a chronic migraine and had one or two sick-days a month and taking anti-depressants (for the migraine) which, amongst other side effects, made me tired all day to the point where I'd just have to sleep during breaks. I and a few others at work got the chance to get 30 minutes two days a week to walk before lunch, the CR crew had been talking about health on Talks and I just decided that if they could do it now was my chance. I started walking 10 km a day, eventually I could jog a few days a week. Now I hit the gym after work twice a week, I've done two running competitions, and run like 10+ km (6.2+ miles) three times a week, I'm off the anti-depressants since like april and I've lost 31,4 kg so far (69,2 lb). At this point, I've honestly never been in better shape. I feel great, I look pretty alright now that I wear medium instead of XXL, and I have not had a sickday in over 215 days. Being healthy is great... but buying new clothes is a bit expensive :P I'm aiming for 78 kg (172 lb) by february next year and that should be quite achievable I think. Might get myself a Jox Machina shirt to celebrate then... I mean most of my clothes are too big now xD

That is so awesome!! I feel your pain of your clothes not fitting, keep up the good work, and it will only happen again. ;) I have/had chronic migraines myself, and I too noticed that when I could be more active, and lost weight they lowered in frequency for me as well, I'm glad to read I'm not the only one to find that solution! :D

Thank you, Travis! I think it's great to see someone speak up about staying healthy; I find many gamers have sharp minds, but could really benefit themselves by looking after their bodies more.

He's an inspiration. Jocks get a bad rap sometimes. I love dnd and have been a DM for over 10 years now but in that time ive also won several body building competitions. Keep up the exercise everyone. Its never to late to start getting your health into gear!

It took me like 6 years to change from really lazy gamer to very activate athlete and it wasn't motivation that got me out of my chair. Focus on a goal and use discipline, don't chase a dream but walk toward an objective. That's my two cents on the matter, I wish you all the luck and success !

This is great! I fell off the workout wagon over the summer and have been needing some motivation to get back on. Us nerds can use some extra inspiration in that department from time to time. Thanks for taking the risk to expand the subject matter you're getting into on this channel.

anyone who works out will tell you consistency is Always key! so when this wonderful man says to make a change then sticking with it he couldnt be more correct. just be consistent and the results you want will be achieved. if people can play WoW for 9 hours a day an hour at the gym isnt going to kill anyone lol ill always be a memeber of Jocks Machina! @sabinrawr5 жыл бұрын
Please try to remember that just about everyone who would see you working out has themselves been in that same position once. I get so angry when I see people at the gym laughing at heavyset people who are working their ass off (literally), because it wasn't that long ago when I was that heavyset guy. The reason that this video is so inspiring is because it focuses on what's important: being the best version of yourself. When I've been fit, there were always people with bigger muscles than me. When I've been unfit, there were always people worse off. But if you're becoming the best version of yourself, then you find that there's no point in comparing yourself to them (good or bad), because they're not you. Be the best version of yourself. No matter what others do or what others say, you will have won. Make it happen.

perhaps not as much for men as for women like myself, but if you aren't a super active person, going for walks, or heck, going for hikes is GREAT exercise - you get cardio and at least a good leg session! And a really nice view if you go hiking round this time of year - it's fall here, all the leaves are changing colour, perfect time to go for a hike!

get healthier, live longer. what a horrible deal
@JorisVDC5 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not as bad as it looks. I read a research article that claimed that by staying fit you indeed live longer, about the same amount of time it takes to work out. So there is no net-gain in lifespan but you do get to have a fitter body.... hmm, That does sound like a win, doesn't it?
@TheJudgementofDog5 жыл бұрын
Surely there are other people that play D&D out there? Don't get me wrong, I love the guys from CR as much as anyone else, but this channel lacks diversity. You guys interview the same four people pretty much all the time. It's gotten to the point that the interviews are redundant because everyone asks basically the same questions. Get someone from Acquisitions Inc. or even Girls, Guts, Glory, now that they're back. Or any of the multiple not-quite-as-popular-but-still-pretty-popular D&D streams. Those people are pretty interesting as well.
@MilSF15 жыл бұрын
I think some of it may be that they are the main sponsor for CR. Push CR, that reps D&D Beyond, synergistic promotion. CR actually had a Handbooker Helper recently with one of the cast from Girls, Guts, Glory fwiw.
