In my campaign, characters who make such plays on words are visited by the warrior from the end of time. He punishes bad puns, and blesses those who are truly clever. You have been weighed upon the scales and found CLEVER.

Morrighan looks out over the horizon in awe and utters to herself a phrase for the first time with no hint of sarcasm or irony, so quietly that none of the Crown Keepers could hear. Still, there is a calm knowing in what she is going through. Dorian felt it when crossing the ocean by airship. Fy'ra felt it crossing the endless wilds following the gift. Dariax felt it when the giant cat statue showed him the truths of the universe. Opal felt it when first entering Emon from the small town of Byroden. They all approach her and stand with her. Dariax leans in and says, "yeah, it is so big."

The absolute hilarity of watching through c3 with Dorian being the token Rich Kid(tm) and having everyone rib on on how incredibly evident it was, then jump-cut to EXU Kymal and all of the crown keepers are going “oh my god, you’re so poor. you’re like a sad stray kitten. what can we do to make sure he Isn’t Poor omg how sad” and turning the entire oneshot into a go-fund-me case

Aimee is terrifying. I've never seen anybody play a warlock so convincingly that I BELIEVE the god gave them power. Aabria saying "This didn't go how I expected" IN CHARACTER is just. Such an ExU vibe. And Opal...the dice and the canon warp around this character.

@@talitherose I don't see a redemption arc, but I do love the idea of even gods having a more nuanced and flexible alignment than just being pure good or pure evil. (But the easier route here is to just interpret the 'rehabilitation' as more manipulation by Lolth to further pull Opal to the dark side.)

@@TamTroll but to be fair Kymal escaped mostly unscathed from that so generally it didn't effect them personally. It was just a bunch of dragons that essentially a single adventuring group wiped out fairly easily from there perspective it probably wasn't that big of a deal.

I think my favourite thing about Opal is how Aimee isn't trying to pass her as something she's not. Sure she can be nice and do good things but ultimately the person she cares about most is herself and is unapologetic about it. It's such a refreshing change to the "No, but she's really a good person!" when they're very clearly not. It's a great example of a chaotic neutral character played well

Guaranteed this is part of the fun for Matt and intentional on his part in encouraging Aabria to fully build in this world. Instead of just updating the world and story based on player decisions he now gets to expand into reacting to the updates and additions that another DM makes.

(Idk I couldn't quite hear the pronanciation) I figured this is Fearne's grandma and she's forgotten why she left the feywild or has dementia. Or maybe she was bored alone at home idk. I have a feeling that Morrighan was sent to Exandria as mission to track down Ira and/or stop him, because word got to Fearne's grandmother that her brother who was disowned by his family and banished from the Feywild because of the dark and corrupted magic and experimenting he was doing. When she didn't report back she sent Fearne with the Mission.

All based on emotions..essek has the blood of thousands on his hands. But because he was a "hotboy" he was forgiven, true he did show remorse, but still.Lolth has had an iron grip on drow society and even turned them into slavers. I can't even fathom aproaching a demon queen with anything other then her complete destruction on your mind. These are just my opinions btw.

2:33:13 It's always so exciting when it's Robbie's turn in combat. He's a bit of a Liam. The difference I noticed is that while Liam gives us the imagery of precise and efficient moves in combat like an action movie, Robbie adds a bit of fun in his (like that flip back to Dariax, Hypnotic Pattern and that Nat 1 slippery massage moments). Their similarity is that they really make use of their turns effectively, making most of their moments to be quite game changing (or entertaining) in the table and it's so fascinating to see.

If you like that mechanic I strongly recommend you check out Blades in the Dark (the game Aabria mentioned as the source for this coin mechanic). Even if you never play the game, I've gotten so much D&D DM inspiration from all of the amazing mechanics in the game. Things like clocks, devils bargain, the simple downtime system, load outs, desperate action, and pushed rolls are all simple enough to port over into 5e and are great tools to have.

It really is a good mechanic, because players can obsess for hours over trying to account for every possible outcome, and will almost never have things go the way they planned in the first place.

So Morrighan is an irish name for the goddess etc. Them shortening it down to Mor during the game is funny when its translated as Mor (being a bit loosy goosy with the fada for irish speakers) is the irish word for big. We all know what has kinda become her catchphrase.

This was such a great 2-part interlude, I really enjoyed seeing Aabria’s different style and the new mechanics she brought in for this episode (haven’t had time to catch the start of ExU yet). And all the guests were amazing and creative: Anjali’s deadpan lines slew me, Erica’s running gag slew me, and Aimee is a force of nature! I can’t wait for the next installment (both Robbie’s return to the main campaign, and the next ExU story arc)!

I really liked the flashback planning in this. I wasn’t sure how it would work out, but everyone was very clever in how they used it and it made for some great story telling. It’s not something I would like all the time, but for something like this which is wrapping up a 2-part session I thought it was a great and unique device.

The Raven Queen from D&D is very much inspired by the real life Celtic Goddess of Fate and Death The Morrígan. After the spread of Christianity into Europe many Celtic gods and goddesses were turned into folk and fairy tales, many have drawn connections between the Arthurian character Morgan Le Fay and the goddess The Morrígan. Fearn’s grandmother Mori Calloway sounds very similar to Morgan Le Fay. Mori Calloway’s full name is Morrigan and it seems like the bunny girl Mor was sent to Exandria by Morrigan in a similar fashion to Fearn. The Raven Queen and Fearn’s grandma are undeniably connected somehow. My theory is they are the same entity, Morrigan is the Raven Queen. But it could just be that Morrigan Calloway is a witch in the Feywild that worships the Raven Queen.

Yes. They're to different entities based on the same idea. Though now that Morrigan Calloway has taken to sending ravens to friends and allies I feel we can no longer rely on a motif that used to mean Vax was watching.

The EXU intro never fails to give me chills. Also, Opal being on one of the stained glass sigils absolutely wrecks me, because it's almost like an acknowledgement that she (and her Vestige situation) is recognised as an important part of Exandria and CR lore on the whole, and I'm so happy/sad for her.

Dudebros LOVE when you tell them how big they are. I think Aimee is playing her character based on the movie The House Bunny considering her character is rabbit folk, the "You're so big" thing is also a flirt/joke in the movie but specifically the affect of her voice when she does it is very similar too.
