We teamed up with BlizzConline 2021 for a special one-shot inspired by Diablo! Matthew Mercer runs players Laura Bailey, Marisha Ray, Liam O'Brien, and special guests Mica Burton and Carlos Luna through a dungeon-crawling adventure!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was filled with such a weird mixture of amazement, surprise, nostalgia, and (a small amount of) irritation that I had to pause before coming back. The irritation is because I found even the original voice to be a little unsettling, but I have issues with character voices. I can't listen to the Winnie the Pooh voice at all because I find it grating, it's a me problem.

@@tedfrid8029 He plays a great character in ‘The Pirates of Leviathan’, alongside a one Matthew Mercer! All of the other players are great too of course (Mariana Ray and B. Dave Walter among them). It’s on Dimension20 (College Humors actual-play series), and DM’ed by Brennan Lee Mulligan, who is excellent in his own right. Really charming, interesting, creative twist on a Pirate themed adventure.

One year ago this was my introduction to Critical Role. I remember being ready to not watch such a "long" video, but Matt's Deckard voice piqued my interest enough to give it a shot. I return now, having completed C1 and C2, the majority of the one shots (all of the Exandria ones), and countless hours of highlight and "once said" videos. Oh, and about 6 viewings of their animated series, EXU, Talks Machina (though I admit only having seen about two thirds of them), and of course C3 so far. Thank you Critical Role.

@@FuriousGorge Turns out its made of stem cells that develop into the different component of blood, so it's basically the precursor for blood. So as long as it hasn't also dried up, those skeletons can bleed too!

Almost every one could be the main character in a AAA title. Lots of character and drama oozing out of the art. Laura's character would be especially fun to play imo. And I want the necromancer as the gollum-esque side character. Such a neat premise.

@@calebmcintosh1991 - Sam Riegel can bring chaotic energy, too, and it's often compatible with Laura's chaotic energy (e.g. Nott + Jester), or just remember Scanlan. Maybe you left him out because you didn't want the universe to implode, or turn inside out.

@@calebmcintosh1991 - ok, sure, although IDK it's necessary to restrict things to couples. I mean, if Emily were going to come, it would make sense for Brian to come, too, just for logistics reasons because they are a couple and would both want to play. But I don't see why we'd need to exclude anyone from the chaos because they aren't part of a D&D couple. And if anything, Travis and Laura usually mitigate each other's chaos instead of fully going along with it. Maybe *because* they're married, they don't yes-and the crazy ideas, they just laugh at each other and point out the downsides. (Or maybe that was in-character differences in temperament of Fjord and Jester, and that half of Jester's pranks involving Fjord were embarrassing for him, like the googly-eyed tusk-tooth tattoos.) Now I'm imagining Grog and Jester having adventures. Could it be worse than Grog & Tary going shopping in Vaselheim? Perhaps!

Not bad! But I doubt they'll play similar characters to this campaign. Then again, Laura makes an exceptional Druid. (She makes anything exceptional though. Talented Mrs. Bailey.) I'd also like to point out that there is no Demon Hunter class in D&D. There's Rogue or Monk. Marisha is currently a Monk in C2. She could play a Rogue, but she may try something else. Liam has already played a Paladin/Rogue. But if anyone can Homebrew a game like this, it's Matt. Stats are easy enough to modify, but coming up with unique and viable abilities (without breaking the game, of course) is another thing in itself. There's quite a bit of time between C2 and C3, so we'll just have to wait and see. I love your thinking on this though.

For me... this one shot is what started it all. I had never seen any CR content before and now I've enjoyed 2 full campaigns, caught up on campaign 3 and seen almost all the other one shots. What a wonderful ride! I can't wait for season 2 of Legend of Vox Machina and all the other CR content.

I like Laura but she needs to play a thief, her driving force is loot. Druids and rangers are not motivated by greed the same way. Or if she insists on playing the nature types she should suppress her thief like tendencies for the part.

@@disunsnogoot3319 She actually always used to play a thief, but when they were choosing characters for the first Matt's game, Liam knew this and picked a rogue first knowing she will be pissed at him. They talk about this in the first Talks Machina I think :)

The Paladin making a deal with a demon instead of killing it. That shows just how murderhobo this group is, which of course is pretty typical in Diablo. That tie-in with Gillian though, damn! Shows how much of a genius Matt is to make an OG Diablo character the antagonists motivation.

If your familiar with Dimension 20, they have a series called Side Quests. It's a six or so episode adventure with guest stars instead of the regular cast. The last one was called pirate's of Leviathon. A pirate themed adventure. And among the guest players is Matt, Marisha and Carlos. I'm unsure if they uploaded it all to KZfaq. Or if it's on their streaming service dropout TV. But you could easily binge with a free trial. Or even just pay for a month. It's super cheap. 4.99 or 4.99

@@CharmaineRae I would recommend all of dimension 20, in addition to the specific one with Carlos Luna. Brennan Lee Mulligan is probably my favorite DM. On par with, and maybe even slightly surprising Matt Mercer.
