I am beginner, having crocheted only 3 baby blankets and was looking for a boarder of all that is simple and attractive. Your tutorial was nicely presented, easy to follow and want to thank you for introducing me to this new stitch. It did take a bit of practice to get the hang of the pulling of the 2nd to last yarn around and figured out the importance of swiveling the crochet hook while pulling, which helped increase accuracy and speed.... love how it looks, great boarder choice!

Beautiful border! I have just completed For the Love of Texture afghan and plan to use this border. I have a question about the single crochet initial border as in your video. Are you only crocheting 2 chains at each corner and not a SC, chain 1 or 2, and another SC in same stich? Also, when the last corner was completed, it showed a SC in last stitch and then chain 2 and then SC to first SC? I would really appreciate any clarification on the corners. I always seem to have difficulty with corners/ borders! :-) Thank you!

@WindingRoadCrochet
@WindingRoadCrochet 2 жыл бұрын
No you are adding extra stitches in the corner. Each corner should have 3 stitches so are increasing. You are increasing 8 stitches per row, so 2 stitches per side.
@yvonnemcrobbie2375
@yvonnemcrobbie2375 2 жыл бұрын
You have solved my problem. Obvious to most but being leftie Im always overthinking what rightie is doing. Regarding borders, you explain the corners so well but I didn’t understand the increasing. Now I will never let a border confuse me. I wonder why even the most basic tutorials don’t verbalise this stitch increase. So Basic not to be explained but I need every basic detail.

What I would do is start with a single crochet border. Single crochet evenly around the knitted blanket. You may have to skip a stitch here or there if the edge gets wavy. After making the single crochet border then you would be able to do this border after.

You would need to work a (herringbone half double crochet, Chain 2, Herringbone Half double crochet) into each corner, and then repeat that every row working that stitch pattern into the CH2 space. The only thing is that makes working the very first corner harder, because your first stitch will not remain in the corner.

Can you explain how to do this on a V stitch crocheted blanket? I don’t understand how Prepare the blanket for the stitch
@WindingRoadCrochet
@WindingRoadCrochet Жыл бұрын
You would want to start by working a single crochet border around the blanket. If the 'v' stitch is using double crochet then you would work 2 single crochets into the side of each double crochet (down the sides) and just one single crochet into either the top or bottom of the stitch for the top and bottom side of the blanket. Then you would be ready to use this border.

You are welcome. Yes it would be project specific. You work across until you reach the corner.

If the edges are curling then the stitches are too tight. You might try working in a few extra stitches in the first row or using a size larger hook.

Did you know there is an option now to slow down the video? You can click the setting button (it looks like a gear on the computer) and you can slow down the playback speed to be able to follow along better.
