it's perfectly fine, just let them out of the fence every 150 seeds harvested or so. And don't fence them in a entirely different biome like you did, fence them near you lol

If you keep your locked up gardening buddy next to your garden then this method works. What probably is messing it up is Micky is so far a way from you and your pumpkin patch

Or just use Remy as a farming buddy because he doesn’t get in your way

As others have said, too many crops at once and you need to trap your helper near the crops in the same biome.

When you see the gold light, stand on the plot and point the camera straight down. You will almost never click on them this way, even if they stand right against you.

Yeah, your error was in having Mickey so far away. You’re supposed to pen him up next to the garden.

I'm waiting for them to nix this. Seems to cause a lot of problems. I do wish they would program the villager to leave the gold spots alone though. I don't mind picking up drops every few rows but that gold interruption is so frustrating.

I do understand that it takes hours to grow a pumpkin and then another couple minutes or half an hour at least to clear up a whole biome filled with dropped extra's. But its still worth the grind in my opinion for sure. Even if it takes hours we finally know how Wall-E feels with planting or stacking cubes up into skycrapers even tho its pumpkins

haha this is funny, and embarrassingly relatable, i trapped my buddy while i farmed my 360 canola crops and then forgot about him and left. When i went back he had dropped an unreal amount of canola everywhere in the forest and i couldnt walk over them to pick them up! I had to manually pick up over 100 bonus canola!

I never knew we could do this... and now I never will!

I swear that the villagers are just out to annoy you by default. I had waaaaay too often that as soon as I get a gold plant they have to stand in my way so I accidentally talk to them or decide to level up... Not to mention that they decide to NOT MOVE when the red splash spawns happen and make it even more impossible to get the spawns within the too limited time slot...

I've had a similar thing happen by accident! Both on a mining trip with Scrooge and a separate foraging trip with Gothel, they get stuck on some geometry and I don't see them following me for a while, but don't notice because I'm focused on my harvesting. Half an hour later I find a section of my map completely coated in random resources they presumably dumped when they got unstuck. :/

Mickey did this to me too. He was penned up right where the pumpkin patch was, so its not always destined to work even if you think you're doing everything right. I never want to pick up that many loose pumpkins ever again, so I just let my farming buddies follow me around freely now.

U have to keep Mickey next to you when u do this hack. U can't leave him in another biome. 💜

I built a pen I push my gardening buddy into near all my farms in each biome. I just push them in and seal the 4th wall up. I've never had any issues!

Too funny. Its not very often I actually laugh out loud when I watch something. This is why I put my harvesting buddy in eye sight of me at all times when using the method.

I keep the crop low in number then let them out. I also keep them close to my garden. Thirdly I try to keep the trap as small as possible and they’ll sometimes release one crop then keep the rest until you release the trap.

Apparently you don't mess with the Mouse or he'll get back at you 🤣🤣🤣

That thing about the character being in front of you when harvesting one of those that multiplicates, have you noticed that it only happens with Mickey? I use Gothel as well to harvest and that doesn't happens with her. Maybe it's bug? I don't know, but I don't use Mickey anymore to harvest 🤣

What I don’t like is the characters gets in my way to pick up the glowing veggies and the frame slowly me down when I over plant my crops.

I know this is old, but I would recommend putting your buddy in the same biome that your harvesting your pumpkins

This is works for me perfectly fine, but I usually put my farming buddy in the same biome as me. It’s easier to have them in the same biome. Also, they are less likely to prematurely explode if they are in the same biome as you. However, even when they do prematurely explode because they will, I just continue harvesting. Then I collect all the extra stuff after letting my harvesting buddy out.

This is happening to me also but only with pumpkins. Same plot size and everything with Canola or onions and it only stays in one spot. But pumpkins just want to be everywhere

Your harvesting to many at once. If have a set limit of them it works just fine. Also have him in a pen near the place your harvesting so he won't get stuck on objects and drop the items everywhere

I did this earlier on with 500 pumpkins on the switch (somehow didn't crash) and ended up having to manually pick up 350 pumpkins, since it didn't do the blue glowey thing where you can just run over them... Definitely not worth the extra like 20 pumpkins I got

LMAO. I just did this exact thing today. I watched merlin explode pumpkins all over the plaza.. omg. Never again. It was quite funny though.

How bizarre. I use this method but I trap them right next to my farm plot, they walk over and explode into crops, it has never spread all over the zone for me before. I assume trapping him so far away definitely messed things up a bit, but my farm is also pretty small like 200 plots or so. One thing I have noticed is that if there's too many objects on the ground, it starts deleting stuff like... Farm plots without plants in them, so one pumpkin harvest ended up erasing one of my unused farm plots and I had to re-dig it all again

I didn't even know you could do this I get a few veg out when i pick my crops but now that many and none of the characters ever realise them

I dont know, I locked up scrooge near my house, and went to every single biome mining, and came back to let him go - he gave me all the gems that he wouldve found with no issue. Haven't tried the farming one yet.

U can only trap him on bio ur harvesting for it to work 🤣 but had good laugh lol
