Volclus... love your videos!! I don't think I've ever commented on your videos before, but I just have to say, you are a really big help. With your 40 minute traxler counterattack video, I managed to get a 66% win rate with the traxler! I have been watching you since you had 8,000 subscribers, watching your shorts since then. I do sometimes see other channels re-upload your videos, but I forget the name. By the way, did anyone notice the position at 7:25 looks like a Halloween gambit?

there's also one tricky line in the 2 knights variation if they retreat the knight back to c6 and then after e5 they pin the pawn with the Queen you should unpin it with the bishop instead of the Q because otherwise they hit you with Nxd4 and it gets really bad (even tho the engine still thinks it's better for white lol)

Advice: When playing the Vienna Gambit.. if they play 4. Qe7 Qe2 5. Ng8, just play d4 right away instead of Nf3. Look into the line, you have a vicious trap if they play Qh4+ 😉

as a lifelong King's Gambit player, I find it interesting how often these positions are not just similar, but quite literally identical to well-known KG positions, and yet the two openings have such different reputations.

At this point, this video is 9 months old now. But here is a vienna lover (as black) giving tips on how to improve this video variation. I play the Andersson defense and let me remind you, 2...Bc5 does NOT run into 3.f4, Fun fact: The annotation of the move should be => 3.f4?! In the andersson defense, after f4, I don't play anything that you have showed in the video. Instead, I play 3...Bxg1!? the move is kind of weird at first, but then you realise u have no knight to protect the king from check on h4. After Rxg1, Nc6 protects the pawn and lives go on. 5.fxe5 is still the best move according to stockfish, then we play, in classic gambit style, 5...d6 and after exd6, Qxd6. There are lots of things to worry about for white. Yes the queen is misplaced, but look at the position for white, the h pawn is hanging, king is far far from casting queenside, and his kingside is weak. Also my e4 e5 nf3 repertoire is based on the BGG, so 2.bc5 gives white as many chances as possible to transpose to stafford, traxeler or BGG exclusive lines. Let me remind you, my repertoire is for tactical players, if you play 1.d4 as white, I have no hopes for you to make proper use of this line. Why should you listen to me? idk, is 2200 rating not good enough to listen to someone? Maybe not, yeah, do as you wish. Always remember, you are playing against a human, not a computer, so giving away like 0.2, or 0.5 even, points of advantage just to get an attacking position and quick development, is not a bad choice, and you can base your repertoire around that playstyle you like.

What after KxC3 and recapture with the B pawn, they play play Pawn up to D4?
@Volclus
@Volclus Жыл бұрын
Then Bc4! Checkmate is threatened, and if they try Qe7 to defend then a simple cxd4 and we’re cleanly up a pawn. If they instead try Be6, then Bxe6, fxe6, and then Qxb7! We’ll then capture on d4 with a large advantage.

Help me understand at 5:48 why the black doesn’t want to lose the pawn on c7? Isn’t it protected by the black queen only leading to a trade? Or is that the point because your already winning?

There's just no reason for black to lose another pawn, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would give them a bigger disadvantage.

After g5, we can strike with h4! Their only way to try to play on would be g4, we play Ng5, and if h6, then Nxf7! After Kxf7 and Qxg4, we are winning because their king is insanely unsafe.
