He was also my Commander in Chief while I was in the Navy (Submarine Force). We were told in boot camp that we were not saluting the person, we were saluting the uniform. But with a man like Ronald Reagan, we would be saluting the person... with Let's Go Brandon... well, you can sadly get the idea.

@Thanks be to God I'm sorry, but if you think Third Way Bill Clinton is a socialist, you are from another planet. Same with Barack Obama, even if he was slightly to Clinton's left. If Clinton and Obama are socialists, then so are Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Richard Nixon. So please think before you type and post. Thank you.

John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan were both good presidents, but they're both overrated (at least somewhat) IMO. Not the most overrated though, I'd say-that distinction, as unpopular as my opinion would be, goes to John Adams.

For the first time in U.S. history the swearing in ceremonies were moved to the West front of the Capitol and Ronald was sworn in while facing the obelisk-shaped Washington Monument. It was a signal to the Jesuits that the ecumenical movement had successfully defeated Protestantism.

The decade of the 80s was a glorious time of transition. Mr. Reagan was a great president who commanded respect. The beginning of tech. MTV. The Walkman. VHS. The strength of the WW2 generation was still with us in heart and mind. Yet a new generation arose in their shadow. Music including electronic drums, synths, mixed with guitar. There were malls. There was no social media yet we talked to each other directly. It is more than nostalgia to say that it was a more cohesive time. Not that there weren’t differences but there was a cohesiveness that bound us. The media was less about making news as opposed to reporting on it. Yes, I miss those days. I wonder whether “advancements” in technology that created the illusion of closeness whilst we grew farther apart is to blame. Were we a people constrained by boundaries that forced cohesiveness in the 80s? Or has distance and divisiveness become an evolved choice as the world has advanced? I don’t know the answer but what i do think is that “simplicity” in our lives does not mean being backwards. David Mccullough once commented on modern hubris. That “modern” people believe themselves to be superior to those from our past. He acutely pointed out the flaw in such thinking. I agree.
