CTA Yellow Line Reopening - January 5, 2024

On November 16, 2023, a Yellow Line train towards Howard collided with a snowplow, resulting in a weeks-long suspension. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) eventually took lead of the investigation.
Several weeks after the incident, Yellow Line service resumed on the morning of January 5, 2024. The ride has been noticably slower with newly implemented speed restrictions. All operators are supervised during trips in order to ensure safety for everyone onboard the train. The NTSB continues the investigation of the incident and a report will be published later this year.

I think CTA should install PTC for all rail lines, 7:38 the maximum speed here is 6 mph

Left Howard 7 18am Arriving Oakton 7 28am Departing Oakton 7 29am Arriving Dempster 7 32am 14 minutes Before slow zones its 8 minutes

And the stupidvisors at Howard are still inconveniencing the Evanston and Skokie riders by brining in a north bound Red line against traffic to the southbound platform.

Apparently the CTA decided it was one of the "solutions". I had train operators tell me that they slowed the Yellow Line down "for no reason".

It’s bc they don’t have the better braking system the NTSB is calling for. They got cleaned out financially after the accident so they have to play it safe
