The brand's new model begins the series production at Europe's largest electric vehicle plant in Zwickau, Germany
The CUPRA Born will increase the brand mix to 20% of the company's global sales and contribute to reducing CO² emissions
Griffiths: "Producing our first 100% electric model in Europe's largest electric vehicle factory will provide valuable learnings as we look to build electric vehicles in Martorell from 2025 onwards"
The CUPRA Born will be the star of Automobile Barcelona 2021, which starts this Thursday
It will be available on the market from November

Don't understand why this Cupra has so low specs. Crupa means sportiness and this is not a sport car at all. It's an ID3 with other face. Don't understand.

Go test drive one you will be surprised, with the 340lb of torque it delivers at any speed makes it fun to drive combined with its rear wheel drive and lower sportier suspension

A very smart looking new sporty EV, without a ridiculously large ugly front grill, quite a novelty these days. It’s not a dumb boring to drive SUV and according to youtube reviews it’s fun in the corners with zooty lower suspension, wider wheels than the ID3. Yes the car industry has even eventually realised people who like driving aren’t all petrol heads and care about the environment . This might just be my next car, however I think I’ll wait for the 700km range battery tech. VW is talking about to be introduced.

Das lohnt sich nicht für VW, so große Unternehmen zahlen für den Strom (als Großabnehmer) viel weniger als unser eins!

Not a good EV in my experience. My AC charging issue was the Born half charged overnight which nobody could explain from October 22 to May 23 when I purchased another car. VW retailer’s solicitors then said in 29 June 2023 that a VW website had a small print footnote saying “VWG test data for comparison purposes. ….Charging time will be longer in cold weather or if battery safeguarding technology is activated.” It was in a VW website not Cupra and was copyright 2023 when I purchased in 2022! It was also very strange that nobody from Cupra head office or the retailer ever mentioned this during the six months of issues! So obviously they didn’t know what battery safe was or why it was relevant. It still means nothing to me, it is unexplained why it activates on what basis and when! But apparently means in VW parallel universe it’s ok for my car to half speed charge 75/80% of the time in an integral closed garage!!!!! I don’t think the footnote would suggest that an ordinary garaged vehicle will half charge so much! Just hope nobody else suffers with random safety!!!

they are there for a reason and it’s all to do with the regeneration, with an electric motor you do not need massive disk brakes all round to slow it like a normal fuel car
