Nice video. Thank you. Is there any specific reason you switched from the Old Brown Glue to yellow glue? Also, do you have a trick to help keep the OBG flow so nicely during glue up? The few times I've used it it seemed to gel more quickly than I'd like. Many thanks.
@GuysShop
@GuysShop 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe! I switched from the Old Brown Glue because of the dark glue line it leaves on the lighter colored wood. I would have switched to hide glue and my glue pot, but got lazy I guess. And I heat up the OBG in a bath of hot water for 20 minutes or so. It flows wonderfully after that. Thanks for watching and the great question!

At approx 6m 30 sec, you're making the panel door and sliding the wood on a piece of MDF against the fence. Is that MDF attached to the slot in the fence? Or are you just guiding it against the fence (no attachment)? THANKS!

Hey Guy, at 8:50 you use a piece of masonite on the flat of your table saw, under the piece your cutting. Just curious why?
@paulc9395
@paulc9395 5 жыл бұрын
I believe it is because the masonite is slicker and the piece will encounter less resistance. I am curious to know too

The curly ash was tearing out when I made a groove in one of the stiles, so I just made a zero clearance insert by sliding a piece of hardboard over the dado stack and double side taped it down. It really helped a lot!

I really liked watching you make this from a single board. I know it's a simple cabinet but it looks amazingly like the design in "Google SketchUp® Guide for Woodworkers - The Basics" by Dave Richards. As others have commented "Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy watching the process".
@GuysShop
@GuysShop 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really enjoyed making this project. And no, it wasn't from a design you mentioned. I have built this cabinet in some size or another for well over twenty years. Maybe 15 of them? And they all come out a little different. The size of this was based on what I had to work with.
