Notes: -Don’t wash hair with shampoo/conditioner everyday -don’t dry with cotton towel, use microfiber/t shirt -apply styling product to wet/damp hair -use satin pillowcase -use styling products that actually fight frizz -do deep conditioning once a week -cut hair to get rid of stragglers Thanks a million 😁

I’m 19 and my hair has been curly for almost 10 years. No one else in my family has natural curls, and while they tried to help I only ever got half answers. In 9 minutes you explained how and why I need to do these things and I’m so thankful for the help. I just wish I hadn’t taken a decade to finally tackle the mess that is my hair.

OMG thank you! My boyfriend is mixed and he decided to grow his hair out 2-3 years ago and now it's pretty long. I tried telling him how to take care of his hair because I have sisters who are mixed and I would watch my step mama do their hair. Anyways he didnt listen to me and he would just wash it, brush it, throw it in a ponytail and put a durag on it and wouldn't touch it for weeks. Today he tried washing and brushing his hair and ended up getting it super tangled. So I had to sit him down, turn on your videos and start detangling his hair while he watched and listen to your videos. You are a life saver!

I have graduated Curly Hair University! I got my bachelors and masters degree in Curl health and curl definition! I studied how sulfates, silicones, parabens and all that bad stuff can make your hair 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽. I also learned how to get maximum definition and hold with curly hair products! I am getting my PhD in Curly hair growth because I want really long, really curly, and really thick and defined curly hair! Like this comment if you have graduated or are still working on your degree! (You can like if you are a under-graduate to though or not even in “Curly Hair University”! 😜😜😜😁😁😁

I tried the pineapple method once and it was not the best overnight method for my hair. I find that the pineapple works for looser, not as thick, type 3 A-ish curls.

I agree. I have 3c curls and when I did the pineapple method, I had to do my hair all over again the next day. I was so mad because of all the hard work I did. What really works best for me is putting my hair in a loose ponytail at night. It doesn't leave me with any frizz the next day, its amazing!

Hi I’m a newbie to this curly hair thing. Up until recently, I’ve hated my curly hair because I thought it was ugly and straight hair was the best especially growing up with straight haired siblings and being one of the two curly haired people in my family. My hair is short, frizzy, 3b, and poofy. I’ve come a long way excepting my curls. This has a lot of help on maintaining beautiful, frizz-free curly hair. Thank you!

*Don't understand how a cotton tee is great when drying hair yet you can't sleep on a cotton pillow? I don't understand this logic. Someone pls explain.*
@pieceofpeace35
@pieceofpeace35 5 жыл бұрын
Well, cotton t-shirts are sometimes softer than pillowcases and when you use the t-shirt you're not rubbing it like a normal towel, you're kind of scooping the hair up in sections and squeezing it gently against your head and the towel. That way you're not rubbing it and you still get the excess water out. When you sleep you're doing the exact opposite; you rub your head against the pillowcase as you sleep and the friction creates frizz. I hope that helps clear it up!
@colochossalvajes
@colochossalvajes 4 жыл бұрын
Also, cotton absorbs moisture so it’s good for when it’s wet but if your hair is dry using a cotton pillow case will just absorb the moisture of your hair and create frizz and breakage .

@lorenegross4507
@lorenegross4507 4 жыл бұрын
@@rawr707 it has nothing to do with the curls because even straight or (kinky for a lack of a better word) hair needs the satin because it (a) doesnt catch our hair and pull it but (b) helps with the oils and moisture our hair needs. All of which is BAD for WHITE hair....thats why they wash their hair once a day we cant do that it would strip our hair of its natural moisture and oils which help our hair grow. So as this White woman doesnt have this problem or even need to understand because guess what its not an issue she will ever have to deal Last but not least last i checked I live in America where we have this little thing called Freedom of Speech you dont like what i have to say click change the station but seeing as you dont have an original thought rattling around in that little brain of yours ill give you a clue and a thought to rub together( hint) Mind your own business Thank you and have a nice day Bye Felicia

Satin pillowcases are awesome - I agree! Most curly hair products absorb best with soaking wet hair. You should hear a “wet sneaker” or sloshing-type sound when you scrunch up your hair while applying product. Definitely helps with definition. If I apply product to even slightly drier hair, my curls aren’t as defined.

For someone who has a lot of frizz and 3b curls, this video was super helpful. Ever since I heard about how you’re not supposed to use a towel to dry your hair, I’ve been using a regular t-shirt for years. I recently bough my first microfiber turban-towel and as soon as I got out the shower I wrapped it up and I kid you not, not even 5-10 minutes after I took it out my soaking wet hair was 80%dry! Amazing because my hair usually takes hours to dry! No more dripping wet hair getting in the way of my styling and getting all over my body and floor post-shower! The microfiber towel is a game changer for hairstyling and I am never going back!!!

If you are transitioning to curly hair i would definitely recommend braiding you in simple French or Dutch when you just cant with your hair. I think it is way better then putting in a ponytail or bun do to the breakage that i got sooo much when transitioning into my curls and the braid help keep some texture in because i used to straighten it sooo much too.

I have gone thru so many stages with my hair since elementary, lol. Wanting it straight cus there were barely any girls with curly hair, then washing my hair everyday from all the product I was putting into it to tame the beast lol, to keeping it in a bun throughout all high school, to dyeing it and chopping it and letting it grow to where I am right now, I love my curls and I know how to take care of them. I wish I knew then what I know now. This journey would’ve been so much easier lol. But thanks for making these videos for people to learn. You are awesome! Paige Ford I know its bad for your hair but, since cirly hair mostly crunches up together in ringlets. You can try every 3 to 5 months and straighten it once to see how long they are. Most curly hair has " shrinkage" so when its naturaly curly its up to youre chin, but when you straighten it could be up to youre shoulders

I used to be one of those who hated my curly hair, but that's because no one ever taught me how to care for my hair. I felt forced to wash my hair every other day because after a nights sleep the curls were gone and my hair was just dry and frizzy. Kids in school told me my hair looked like steel wool pads. This is why for the past 20 years now I've been straightening my hair with a flat iron. So I'm completely new to this now that I've decided I want to leave my hair natural. I just watched your video on different curl types. I'm a 3a.

Would you be able to create a video on the cheapest n best products to buy for curly hair? Like brands of satin pillowcases or hair bonnets, spray bottles, oils, etc. If you have already then I apologize I'm still catching up to your channel but I really appreciate your wisdom and knowledge!!!

It's funny how you think I know this I got this down with learning how to maintain your hair but there can be loads and loads of things that you have yet to discover and this is so cool and amazing to think you know everything about your hair but in reality you just know a tiny portion of your hair

I myself am mixed and have a white sister. Surprisingly she's the one with the curls haha. She's 15 now and mom has tried to treat it like straight hair which obviously didn't work out too well. Now all of us have very thick hair and she also has very long hair. I don't live in the same house but I have tried to help a little here and there and look up how to take care of it, now that mom leaves her alone. Does the pineapple still apply for super long hair? Like should she just make a really lose bun? So far we've only focused on moisturising her hair back to life, cutting the bits that just have no hope and looking up what else we can do. I will definitely get my parents to buy her a proper pillowcase and look into more products to help her The biggest issue is hairstyles though. She has a sensitive scalp so tight braids are a no no. I do braid her hair so it doesn't tangle up as much. She definitely still struggles with what she's been told all her life, aka brush it every day.

I have a long bob that’s shoulder length and what I do is put my hair in a pineapple the same way Bianca did and then Bobby pin the pieces that fall in the back near the nape of my neck. Then just sleep on a satin pillowcase and the pieces I pinned up usually stay in.

I’m not in curly hair 101 anymore but I need to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. You are the reason I went natural and heat free nearly a year ago. I look so different than I used to and I love my hair now! Is it possible to have a bad curly hair day???? I’ve tried a lot of your suggestions and most of them work for me. I started using sulfate free shampoo and more specificity Castile soap to cleanse my scalp and I LOVE IT. I can only use a very tiny amount though. Like a teaspoon for my whole head. Have you ever tried Castile soap for shampoo?

Hi! Such a wonderful video for a newbie & a parent of a daughter with curly, coarse, & frizzy hair. She has ringlets like you but it sounds like my daughter's hair is "transitioning", I think? She has a lot of long straight pieces of hair that won't curl. Most likely because we have not been doing anything right with her hair. We have tried tons of products but probably didn't use correctly. Believe it or not, but she had straight as a board hair up until she was in 3rd grade. Since then its been through so many phases and we have not been able to figure out how to do her hair. She ended up getting bullied at school and my mom & grandmother passed away within a month of each other (all this happened at one time). So I ended up taking her out of school and homeschooling her. We have just got to figure out how to do her hair. We have just recently decided to Embrace her hair & look for ways to Enhance her natural hair!! She is wanting to go back to school next year. She will be in the 8th grade. Sorry for rambling but I just wanted to give you a back story on her. If you know which videos of yours that I need to watch first, please give me a list and let me know. You explained everything so very well. Please help us-lol! Thanks so much!

Amazing info! I love your videos, but please bear in mind that kinky/coily hair doesnt have to be thicker than yours, or thick at all. Lots of people with type 4 hair have really thin hair, but because of the way their coils come together, it might look really thick. I'm in the type 3 range, but my boyfriend is a 4A and his hair is super thin, especially compared to mine.
