In this video I will be showing my latest custom, the Hot Wheels '55 Chevy Bel Air Gasser. The 'Lime Light' was originally a 2017 HW Flames model and was painted Key Lime Green. Lots of detailing was added both inside and out, along with upgrading to real rider wheels.
There are quite a few casting lines that need to be cleaned up. The raised lines on the front fenders were also smoothed to a single edge using Tamiya white putty. After painting the casting with a couple coats of Key Lime green enamel paint, the roof was then masked off and given 3 coats of Testors Green Transparent paint.
The plastic 5 spoke wheels were swapped out for real riders. The rear wheels fit the base perfectly, but the fronts needed an axle tube to provide the correct spacing. The headers were drilled out and painted flat white, then dry brushed with brown, blue and flat black to give the ends a burnt exhaust look. The interior has been painted with green and black accents.
