This is a de-gassing of the Hot Wheels ’55 Chevy Gasser. I have had this build planned for quite some time, using a free chassis patter file from an online source. While I was looking forward to the build, for some reason, it just did’nt “grab” me. I’m not really into gassers, so while de-gassing one seemed like fun…and even with the idea of making this a Beano de-gasser…since I don’t hate gassers, it kinda-sorta sat.
Then one day I found myself watching a KZfaq video by @Wampus Cat Customs . I think he does fantastic work and I subscribe to his channel and follow him on Instagram. During this video where he chatting with a couple other builders, they mention the work done by Cody Buck and how he’s coming up with some fantastic designs. When someone that I believe does amazing work mentions someone that he believes also does amazing work, I’ve gotta check it out.
Sure enough, one thing leads to another and next thing you know, I’m checking out Cody’s resin parts on his website www.buckbuilds.com (also @Buck Builds ) and to say I’m impressed it putting it mildly. I keep cruising through and items and what do I find - an amazing lowering kit for the gasser. You can also get the kit with wheels. At the time I’m writing this, the complete set is $20 - I ordered the set, paid by $20, and waited by the mailbox. In only a few days, the package arrived. After working with the parts, and after watching this video, I think you’ll agree that it was $20 well spent. While you may not like what I did with the parts or my ending design (c’mon, how can you not like a Beano DeGasser lol), the parts themselves are pretty damn good.
As mentioned in an earlier video, I picked up a bunch of Model Master paints on closeout at Hobby Lobby. For this build, I used the Model Master Lacquer gloss white for the body, along with the MM Lacquer gloss clear after the decals were applied. I printed the decals myself. The frame and engine were painted with MM Lacquer Aluminum. (Am I getting the most out of those normally $6+ cans that were $1.57 each or what lol)
Thanks again to Cody Buck designing these parts (and keeping them within a reasonable price range) and to Wampus Cat for turning me on to Cody’s designs.
