Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 100 - Featuring Kellan the Kid from Outlaws of Thunder Junction #mtg #edh #commander #MTGOTJ #mtgthunder
Hey Folks! Submitted for your approval, we have our 4th Commander build for Outlaws of Thunder Junction - this time featuring the father seeking half-fae - Kellan the Kid.
In this build, in order to get the maximum amount of Kellan's ability to cast us free spells and/or ramp us, we'll be going all in on alternative ways to cast out spells - whether they be from built in keywords such as Adventure, Foretell, Suspend, or Plot, or by simply casting them for the top of our deck or from our opponents decks or graveyards instead - allowing us to generate huge amounts of value to outpace our opponents with. Then, using that value, we'll be building up our board with a gang of evasive and trampling threats to reliable get in for damage alongside Kellan - until our opponents fall before our superior value generation and our consistent damage.

Been playing this and having an absolute blast, but my biggest issue is closing out games. Yeah, I have tons of interaction and tons of value, but no reliable way to actually win. But I absolutely love playing it!

I find my boardstate swarmed with all my value creatures and whatnot, and then the same situation. How do I win from there? There's two ways with Bant, you can stax until you lock the table (unfun, bleh), or do light stax to slow down their bull, until you get a critical mass and throw down an overrun. Pathbreaker Ibex, Overrun itself, other type effects (or cmdr damage??) and outside of a budget parameter, craterhoof, moonshaker cavalry, finale of devestation.

What I love most about your videos is you always give me new cards to add to my current decks like I never knew about the awesome vehicle deluxe dragster at 18:26 in this video as it is perfect in my Felix five boots deck so in turn I love suggesting my own cards for others alongside your builds for instance because we're primarily casting cards outside of our hands as well as aiming to constantly do so and we are playing several evasive creatures the cipher spells arcane heist and stolen identity should totally be considered here as not only does the heist give us additional free spells from our opponents graveyards and the stolen identity give us tokens of the best artifacts or creatures turn after turn but they also count as spells cast from exile so each one triggers Kellan thus giving us more spells and lands to play at no extra cost to us with stolen identity giving us free spells with CMC six or less while arcane heist gives us spells with CMC four or less. I feel these should be considered completely

So good! Glad to see the Soldier in there... Pulled him, pulled the kid, knew they had to go together, but didn't know whether to build a foretell deck, adventure or plot... But of course, why not a little bit of everything deck! Holding out for the second week of MH3 to see how Apex Devastator effects the current prices. If I can grab on for c.£10 that'll be nice.

Whoops - that's my bad! Its still a good include in my opinion due to its interaction with the majority of our adventures and our instant arsenal though.

So you ARE feeling lucky... punk. Obligatory Clint Eastwood reference aside, amazing deck tech as always! Now to see if we can surpass Commander's Quarters in numbers... Day 995 of waiting for the face reveal... man, imagine if they make The Great Hengeman, a.k.a The Great Henge as a big creature that can be your Commander. Wouldn't THAT be hilarious?

I can see it now.... A trampling X/X 8GG Legendary Artifact Creature - Plant Golem whose cost is reduced by highest power among creatures we control and whose stats are equal to that power, that puts +1/+1 counters on itself and any creatures we ETB while also drawing us cards, and which we can tap to generate mana and gain life equal to its power.... Be afraid.... But again, thanks for the comment and support as always and, maybe, just maybe, we can get numbers matching Mitch's someday if we can keep growing like we have been.

Yeah, a few folks have been asking for him but sadly it won't be any time soon with Mordern Horizon 3 precon upgrades coming.... Maybe I can get to him after that though, but we'll have to see.
