The fact that the animators actually sat through aerodynamics classes to make the dragons' flying as realistic as possible is pure dedication.

One small detail i love is how Toothless is protecting Hiccup until the end from the possible threat of his own father. It isn't until Stoic apologizes that Toothless reveals Hiccup. That, plus him being a little s towards Astrid until she apologizes. He is petty, but fair

HTTYD is my favourite animated trilogy. Toothless is like a combo of a dog and a cat in his behaviour and the result is adorable.

@@samandmariachannel I could be projecting what my Rottweiler was like. They have a rep for being scary but are actually massive softies that want belly rubs and sit on your feet. They will jump in front of you if they don’t trust a stranger though. Toothless reminds me of big dogs. Not little ones so much.

46:33 If you pay close attention, after being released from the cage and into the arena, the first thing the fire dragon wanted to do was escape, but since he found no way of doing that, he focused his attention on Hiccup. It's the fight or flight instinct. And he almost trusted Hiccup before being scared by the loud noise Stoic made. I don't think there are bad dragons, just less trusting ones based around their experience with vikings and their animalistic nature

So many people see the scene of toothless trying to draw and write it off as just a bunch of scribbles, when it’s really him trying to draw a portrait of Hiccup, the way Hiccup drew one of him ❤

Fun fact! At around 23:51 Toothless flinches before putting his head in Hiccup's hand. This was actually an animation error at first, but the directors liked it so much they kept it in.

Errors being cool must have been rife in this movie, that's how they ended up with Toothless' eye open when panning past his wing when Hiccup first is looking at him.

They did definitely base him off a big cat, specifically a black jaguar, but he also’s got parts in his design from other animals as well, falcon, bat, seal, orca, wolf, kangaroo, wombat, horse and of course axolotl.

I tend to think of it as a classical in the making. In order to be considered vintage something needs to be a least 20 years old and classic seems like it needs more time than that. I think 30-40 years a story is a classic cause at that point it can be a something multiple generations of kids have grown up with, sharing with younger siblings/family and for the older generation their owm kids. Thank you both so much for the reaction. Im glad you enjoyed it.

I think it's safe to call it a modern classic, yes. It's certainly one of the best animated movies ever made. And the music is SO so good. Every time Hiccup and Toothless finally fly as one and weave through the rocks, and that theme kicks in? I get chills every. single. time. And between reactions and just watching it myself I must have seen the film a couple dozen times by now.

Its fascinating that absolutely everyone seems to miss that when Toothless draws the maze, he is making a road from Hiccup to him.
@tealhiid
@tealhiid Ай бұрын
I think what a lot of people miss is that the whole point of Stoic wanting to get to the nest was to drive the dragons away. Since the vikings settled there, they have gotten attacked by them, and they wanted the dragons to find a new nest elsewhere. This is why they were screaming in victory when the dragons were running away.

2 moments that were mistakes but the animators kept in 1: Toothless' eye opening when Hiccup was about to kill him 2: The hesitation that Toothless showed when he leaned in for Hiccups hand Edit: When you said nobody is dying sense its a DreamWorks movie, I audibly said, "We call this foreshadowing."
