Thank you for the tutorial, I found it very helpful. Although it's beginning of June, I must cut back my phormium plant to the ground tomorrow. It just can't wait until next year, something has to be done to it asap lol

Ours really benefited from being cut back last year and looked lovely however I think they got badly burnt by frost this winter and looked awful so I’ve had to cut them back again so we will see what happens! Not sure if cutting right back made them more frost sensitive or whether it was just because it was a particularly hard winter. Either way, they are very ugly when they get massive and it’s worth just going for it I think!!! Good luck, let the battle commence !🤣 Thanks for watching Jenny

I use a bungee cord to tie up my flax lilies to prune them. I think it is much easier.

I give them a seaweed feed or you could sprinkle a bit of slow release general granular fertiliser. Thanks for watching

Yes, they look so much better for their cut back. I will definitely be doing it every three years or so. This is a link to the video I did after four months, now about six or seven months later you can’t tell that they were cut back, there are no blunt leaves but full, new and vibrant growth. Would definitely recommend doing, even though it seemed quite drastic at the time!! Good luck (But do it in early spring) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5Zxgdd3xLzGn2g.html
