Cutting Corners to Speed Things Up - When a Project Involves a Little Bit of Everything

Today we're making a tool for shearing the corners off of steel parts. The idea is to remove the bulk of material ahead of grinding to smooth parts off. This could be done with a grinder, but for long runs of parts this does speed it up a bit.
The punch plate is made from a leaf spring, and the punch itself is made from EN8 steel. They are heat treated to hopefully increase their longevity. The rest of the parts are made from soft mild steel.
I like it when a project requires a variety of different techniques to manufacture. This particular one has forging, grinding, fabricating, and machining, with some weird and whacky lathe machining along the way.
I hope that you enjoy the video.
