Like your fixture / jig allot.!! Very nice car and fab… It took me back to where I worked as a design engineer for a custom conveyor shop… we had a 15’x10’x1” steel plate on floor.. welders would take my prints and snap chalk lines in the shape of the frame I drawn up..then tack down the structure right onto the plate.. then weld in all the crossbars and upper framework.. then when done they would use a slitter wheel to cut the tacks…followed my a disc sander to smooth off all tack remains on on it and the weldment and then fill in any pits on the shop flat plate..grind it flush ….I have a wire feed welder here at home and have used plywood like you have.. I miss that ability to have projects tacked down .. doing it that way curbs allot of the warping ..and when that ever did happen it was amazing how skilled the fabricators were at pulling it back to straight and square.. it always amazed me too on how we would always think the opposite results on some frames warping or not warping.. hard to predict…

It is definitely a process of trial and error

As I was logging on to this video, the close captions came on and they were talking about a "PSYCHO" Kart. I am enjoying the vids.

I can tell from looking at your welds your not a master welder, but then again nether am I, but people love to see sparks fly so maybe in the future you might want to show some welding just for the fireworks! Still loving the series. Keep up the good work

Oh! Side note. The metal is expanding from the heat which can make the final position off by a fractional amount. try tack welding in several areas. just small spot welds a few inches apart and then come back and put more in the middle to help lock everything in place then run your beads. Just a thought. Its not like I’m a master welder.

From where do you get the differential axel, sprocket and disc brake mount?
@stevevinson60304 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the differential seems to be no longer available. I got the sprocket and brake parts from Vintage Kart Co in Mesa, Az. I think if you go with a solid rear axle, it is much easier to build and source parts
