Italian brands arguably aren’t known for being at the cutting edge of trends. Rather, they have history, and often stick to it. American, German and even Swiss companies have been the usual culprits for paving the way with new tech or new ideas over the past decade.
But Wilier, and their new Zero SLR, has mixed things up. The new bike ticks all the boxes for what tech riders now want from a bike: fully integrated cable routing from the bars onwards, disc brakes and a build that doesn’t sacrifice bulk. That’s right, the Zero SLR throws in the lightweight card too.
This is arguably the first of what we will see from many brands in the near future. Lightweight, fully integrated disc bikes with a dash of aero sprinkled on for good luck.

any day with a new Dave Everett video is a good day. I like the bike - it looks like a BMC Teammachine to me (w/ smaller diameter downtube); I particularly like the look of the QR through-axles. Now to head over to ct.com for more of Dave's (er, David E.'s) thoughts on the bike...

There was a time, when Italian bikes was a the front of bike innovation. Not all that long ago ! I really like this bike. That its short makes it perfect for me.

Nice bike, crazy money. My bike is about 8KG, I am 92 KG so 100KG total . If I owned this me + bike weight is 99KG. So I need to lose 1KG to even things out! and I get to keep £10k!

Hello Alessandro. Thanks for your feedback. We believe during the last years we realized many innovative bicycles. Only in the last three years Cento10NDR, Wilier Turbine and now the Zero SLR.

The first time I heard his voice I was totally shocked. No offense to him, but it just sounds like his speech is totally alien and difficult to listen to at times. I'm used to it now, but man its like vocal jujitsu.

Finally a bike that is similar to the tarmac disc and well ahead of it by hiding the cables. Que. Specialised to produce a new tarmac with the cables integrated next… sigh This is all about milking it and money.

Initially thought the red and blue paint job versions looked great. Then I saw that boxy seat clamp thing. Oh dear. So many other manufacturers have come up with clean solutions in that area. Unlike the one on this bike 🙄

My rim brake Cervelo R2 is lighter. And cheaper. I would never spend that kind of money for a heavy turd of a bike like this one.

This is pretty much the bastard offspring of a BMC Roadmachine and a Canyon Ultimate. A very generic and anonymous design.
