For the price differential, I will stick with the Delica, which do a great job. Impressed with the Aiko, though.

Thank you so much, this is great information that I have questioned in my head several times! Cost usually wins out especially during the holidays when I’m making gifts and, yes, I’m always picking out the “skinny or thicker” beads as I go along. Looking forward to what you have ahead for us in 2022!

I hadn’t realized that Toho made two different types of cylinder beads! I’ve pretty much always only used delicas and I’ll probably stay with them as I’ve bought silver, black and white in 100 gram bags. But it’s interesting to see the difference of what’s out there. Thank you for sharing and I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!! 💜💜💜

Thank you for this - it was interesting to see the swatch results 😊 I mainly use Delicas, as they are much easier to get in the UK and are more reasonably priced. I have got some AIKOs that I sometimes use with Delicas for bezeling but they are so expensive - though they are the Rolls Royce of the beading world! While I love the metallic Treasure colours, they appear so much bigger than the other 2 and I get fed up with culling them so I use them mainly for free form or stringing. The biggest bonus is that Toho use the same colour code for all their range - I wish Miyuki would!

The first time I used Treasures I was disappointed because I had to cull more beads than with Delicas, but I found that They work up very nicely. They’re a little cheaper than Delicas but it probably works out the same once they’ve been culled. What I like about Treasures is that you can match the colours to Toho seed beads, which is mostly what I use. i also have discovered that you can mix Delicas and Treasures in the same piece. It doesn’t show that there are two brands. So I tend to buy whichever I can find at the best price and in the colours I need. I haven’t yet tried Aikos because I can’t justify the cost.

Thank you for this comparison video, Stephanie! I've never used the Toho Treasures, but in my mind I was thinking they were more precise than the regular delicas. Now I know that's not the case. I have used the Aikos and I just love the precise results when going for a specific pattern. Good to know the good ole delicas still hold their own! Take care and Happy New Year to everyone!

Thanks. I've wondered if the difference in price between the delica and the aiko is worth it. For me, the answer is, not so much. If I were making a special piece for a friend or family member I might go to the aiko but I will probably stay with the delica for 99.9% of my projects. (I don't sell my work)

My go to has been the Miyuki, mostly due to price. I have some Aiko but have not used any as yet. Oh and guys, I began with toho beads, with only projects that Steph has taught us all. Now, I found that most her projects I was able to use toho beads however, there are a couple projects of hers that the toho beads changed the pattern too much. So if she says use miyuki beads, use miyuki beads. Lol. Invest in at least one tube so you'll have it when you need it. It's worth it and not as expensive as you may think if you look around. On another note, the reason I loved toho was because the finishes never run off. Especially on the permanent finish ones like the starlight gold. When I began with Steph, they didn't really have the duracoat miyuki finishes yet. And the Czech finishes in metallic beads were horrible. Luckily, at least for the miyuki beads, they have gotten just as good as the toho finishes and now do not rub off with time.

Thank you for doing this. This video is amazing. I watch multiple beading channels, but yours is by far the most informative. Thank you for giving us such quality content and helpful videos. Two questions from a newbie beader; 1] How can you tell which are the Toho Treasures? I can't see any distinguishing info on the label, nothing that said Treasures line... 2] Looking at these three (kind of obviously, at least to me) the Aikos are probably the best of the three but the other two can they be switched out for each other in projects? I have a ton of projects that I want to try but they all call for delicas... Which wouldn't be a problem if I knew that back when I was purchasing beads. I'm now at a point where it's going to be a while before I can afford to get new beads to try a lot of these projects and I don't want to stall out my beading...

All seed bead containers should be marked clearly with number or letters or both. Ex. DB is a Delica so DB1234 would be a Delica and the number refers to a color. Toho cylinder beads use similar codes. I use Miyuki Delicas 99% of the time. I don’t mix with other brands in bezels but on some projects can be used together. Hope this helps 🌺

@@BronzeponyBeadedJewelry That makes sense, I'll have to look at my beads again. I should have been more clear in my wording on the other question, (I reread my comment and realized I wrote that poorly... Oops, apologies.😬) I meant can you use Treasures in a project when the project calls for delicas or vise versa, not mixing together in the same project. (For example could you use Treasures instead of delicas for a bezel project. On an unrelated side note, your bezel tutorial is probably the best I've found. Again, thank you for all of the quality content and videos you provide us. 💙😍) The Aikos and delicas seem interchangeable, albeit a difference in quality, but the Treasures seem like they might not be able to be switched out/used instead for a project due to the more rounded edges. Maybe I'm just over thinking this...Either way, thank you for taking the time to reply and answer my questions, even though I apparently can't write them well. 🤪 I am loving your channel and look forward to trying some of these projects to expand my beading skills. (Keep up the great work. 😉)

@@bluestarlight2237 Ok gotcha! I misunderstood your comment. You're not over thinking at all! Your attention to the minutia of beading is going to make you an excellent craftsman/woman! You can certainly switch out one brand for the other (especially if you are an experienced beader). However, I always suggest you use the materials I use in the video for best results. Even a small difference can throw a pattern off.

@@BronzeponyBeadedJewelry No worries, I'm the one who wrote it poorly the first time. 😋 That's good to know. I started getting into jewelry making and getting beads; and I really liked the Toho beads, not knowing there was much of a difference. (Still do prefer them, just now can see some of thier shortcomings... Especially for beadweaving.) Now I'm kinda stuck with a good amount of Toho and few delicas until I can start reexpanding my stash, more consciously this time. (Funds are always such a nuisance, ugh practical things. Beading is a surprisingly expensive hobby, even with good sales...) Thank you again for taking the time to help us newbies out and patiently walk us through all of this, even when we don't make sense. 😉 Hope your holidays are going well and you have a wonderful new year. 💚❤🎄☃️🎉
