Lyrics:
At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song
Ooh At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you
I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

Yeah, Cyndi was the original Star Search (' 80 ' s version of American Idol) Grand Prize Winner) of like $250,000. Watch more of her videos, esp live, to appreciate just bad ass she really is. Watch "Money Changes Everything. " She PUNCHES!!

@ Charles If they had done nothing more then listen to the whole "She's So Unusual" album that song came from they would know. Songs like Time After Time, All Through The Night, When You Were Mine, and Money Changes Everything (that is her most underrated singing performance IMO, listen to the later parts of it, the set of lungs on her...). Cyndi is one of the greatest singers in pop music in the last 40 years.

I agree it's a great cover, but it wasn't Etta's song. "At Last" is a song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film "Sun Valley Serenade" (1941). Glenn Miller and his orchestra recorded the tune several times, with a 1942 version reaching number two on the US Billboard pop music chart. Etta's 1960 version is just the most famous cover.

She's underrated as everything. Writer, producer, arranger, singer - she's an artistic genius that's been hiding in plain sight for decades now. I don't know if the public will ever realise - part of me hopes they don't at this point- because in one sense, it's given her the artistic freedom to make album after album that comes from a place of true artistry and which I never get tired of listening to.

I first heard Etta James sing this in American Pie. At the time it was just laughing at the awkward moment for the character in the movie. Then my youngest son and I were out at Target shopping and they had a board where you could press a button and hear the intro of the songs on the CDs they had on display. Kids being kids he pressed every one and At Last! was one of them. We knew we had heard that song before, played it several times before I finally figured out where we had heard it and we had a good laugh over it. My son is grown now and here I am at 50. Over the years I have looked up this song and listened to it over and over and have great respect for Etta James now. Such a beautiful voice. I grew up listening to Cyndi. I would even catch my dad once in a while tuned to MTV listening to Time After Time. Truth be told, I think he had a little crush on her. Not that I blame him, I did too! I really have enjoyed all of her songs. Even Girls Just Wanna Have Fun even though they played it 8 times a day on the musak at work for months on end. And the video to Goonies, such awesome memories from the 80's... That being said, this is Cyndi Lauper at her most beautiful. Thank you for this rendition, making it your own and showing the great Etta James the respect she deserves.

I grew up in the late 80's & 90's, and I remember Cyndi Lauper singing her own stuff, which was that pop music stuff, and sadly enough, when I first heard this(It was her character Avalon on Bones.), she hit it dead on, and THIS style of music is what she should be singing, since her voice is perfect for it, I mean, she nailed it! This is such a beautiful song, and this is coming from a man, that is dominantly a heavy metal music lover(Like Metallica, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Warrant and etc.), but I also do like other styles, as well, but, back in the day, I thought she had a decent voice, but, until she let this out, I did not know exactly how strong and powerful of voice she truly had, and like I mentioned before, THIS is what she should be singing, this style of music, I don't doubt, if she sticks with this style, she will come back from almost extinction! This is just jaw-dropping powerful!

Markus 84 Yes, then she switched to the "pop music" style, you know, the stuff she is more known for, like "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" & "Time After Time", which to me, is quite different, this is what I am merely sayin, she didn't do too bad with those, but, this is the style that brings out her full beauty in her voice, is all.
