This is a long talk about Dungeons and Dragons dice which also has two stories about the time when I bought my players copies of the PHB and when I accidentally wrote on the mat with the wrong kind of marker and my quest to get it off.
Also, as far as the books. I've had a lot of people messaging me about taking the books off of my hands. But I'm going to be giving them out to people I know in my area. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to ship them out as prizes or anything. Thanks for the interest, though!
Thank you to two other artists for helping me out with this video:

Pau: / suzukipcart
End music "Sunshine Samba" from the KZfaq Audio Library

@@rolandking640 Don't worry, that's not hypocrisy. It's only a hypocrisy if he said, no one should use minis because they are too expensive. It is resisting one addiction in favor of another, however. I myself love minis and resist mountains of dice. Although i still have more dice than I probably need. I don't have too many minis yet. I say as the unpainted metal and plastic hordes glare at me from the shelf. as well as the storage drawer beneath the shelf.

You can get 10 lbs of dice for 25$ (more than enough to dm and supply all your players with a set) sure the phbs run you about 30 bucks a pop, so 7 is excessive, but 2 or 3 for your table is not crazy. But figurines rack up WAY QUICK. There are over 150 monsters in the monster manual. And for many of those monsters you'll need them in at least 2 if not 4. Sure you can reuse those 100 skeletons you bought in bulk for 20 bucks, but at what point are they really better than numbered tokens? Vs using something to print paper standees. (www.brackcarmony.com/standee/) Sure it might take a bit of time to find images of the monsters you want to use, but really how many places sell Slaad figurines? Ot flumphs, or mouthing gibbers. www.amazon.com/Chessex-001LBCHX-Pound-O-Dice/dp/B008C0KXYS/ref=asc_df_B008C0KXYS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312075873063&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1341308936634961261&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029855&hvtargid=pla-432490324486&psc=1

Once someone has a few sets I can't imagine why they would buy any that don't look spectacular. Like sure, reflective gold colored with silver flecks in it? Buy that. But you don't need to even consider those dull blue 20 sided over there. I can see how those "4 sided in the shape of 8 sided" caught his attention though. I'm just surprised he didn't say anything about "these aren't as dangerous to step on". I knew one player who always called the pyramid 4 sided dice "caltrops".

It's actually because the dry erase fibers bond much more strongly to each other than to the surface (ensures nice cohesive lines when writing with them). So when you draw with the fresh "ink", the fibers pull into the old "ink", so when you erase the new ink, the old ink gets pulled out too. Really old dry erase, though, does pretty much become permanent because time is a bonding factor too 😢

Dragonman0007 definitely by sets if they were able to notice one dice was missing... I do this to my dice... sitting across from the dm... with like 12 sets of dice all neatly organized and all of them with maximum number face up... and then the person sitting next to me keeps turning one of them to a different number just to annoy me... but anywho, any set with missing dice goes into my injured dice box... which is more like a mass grave unless I happen to come across the missing die and am able to resurrect the set.

So something I like to do instead of using minis is using Lego Minifigures. They're a lot cheaper, very customizable, and honestly they work very well on a gridboard as they don't take up a lot of space, grab a few trees, design a few enemies, and snag some of those snazzy treasure chests and you can run basically anything. Building dragons, Giants, and other big creatures works well with Bionicles. That's just my 2 cents

For me, that creature was the flumph the first time. Second time, it was the bbeegb, and Slads and deamonds, vrs modrons and celestrials and the PCs.

On the most recent session I ran there was a magic mirror that would (falsely) predict what sort of creature would kill whoever looked at the mirror. When the PC stepped in front of the mirror, I opened the Monster Manual to a random page... and opened it to the Intellect Devourer.

"What if I need to roll, like, 37 d6's?" Then you must be playing Champions.

You think Champions requires a lot of d6 dice? My friend, have you heard of a little game called Shadowrun? I have THREE 36 dice chessex d6 cubes, and that might not be enough.

I know this is old, but here's some great advice: 1. you need more dice, because dice are imperfect and not fair. If you're grabbing from a random pile of dice you're "evening out" the unfairness of them by further randomizing them. You always need more, it just makes the game even *more* fair. Also get lots of widely different styles/colors so that if one or two dice are particularly noticeable they can have they're own reputation. "OH NOES, he grabbed the RED d20!" "That's the one that killed Trobald The Barbarian!" "I've got a bad feeling about this." 2. Initiative is only for the suprise round and turn 1. After that the "team" with the highest number goes first; party goes, then monsters go. It really keeps people engaged and working together. Also no more, "I hold/ready my action". Now if you do that, you're just losing a turn. 3. Everyone has that Chessex story. Everyone. Tiles are cool; but a color printer and card stock is even better.

There are only two numbers.... one and 'more than one'. I want "more than one" dice = ALL THE DICE.
