IT WAS 75 YEARS AGO THIS SUMMER WHEN ALLIED FORCES STORMED THE BEACHES OF NORMANDY IN OPERATION OVERLORD.... ALSO KNOWN AS "D-DAY." TODAY, THAT HEROIC INVASION PLAYED OUT ON THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE. FOX 8 VIDEOGRAPHER DAVE ARNOLD SHOWS US HOW ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAYS IN HISTORY, WAS BROUGHT TO LIFE.

My troop went to this for a campout. We had to do some community service which sucked. When we watched the reenactment, We sat at the very front on the "beach" to the left. We saw most of the battle except for the very end when people stood up and we couldn't see. Our troop camped on a small baseball field and so did a bunch of other troops. On Sunday, We were the last troop to leave and had to wait in the dugout during the massive thunderstorm that hit. My poncho ripped during that storm and I was drenched.

For a second there, I thought you said it rained during the days of reenactment, only to realize, you were talking about Sunday. Because I usually leave for home the Saturday afternoon after the major battle. So far, all of the events I went to had some pretty clear weather. I remember one year there was a storm right underneath us, but never went up towards us, instead it just passed below us.

I was there and found a live 50.cal blank and gave it to a guy in the M7 priest and I found a explosive in the ground

Come out and see it and talk to all us reenactors, absolutely. Particpate with a weapon? i'm afraid you'll have to wait until you're a bit older. There's some hazards so you have to be 18 but can usually get involved in some activities at 16

It's completely free for everyone and if your in the Civil Air Patrol then it's even better
