My favorite homeschool handwriting program uses the D'Nealian style for teaching handwriting. We love the Scott Foresman D'Nealian Handwriting Practice and Review Workbooks. What do you use to teach handwriting in your homeschool? Sorry for the audio issues!

I used this curriculum back in the 80's when I was in Elementary school and I'm so glad to see its still around! It always made sense to me to learn to write in this way.

So I'm getting ready to order my homeschool curriculum for my son's 2nd-grade year. I'm just curious if you think the grade 1 workbook is a necessary starting place or if I will be alright starting on the grade 2 workbook.

Look at you posting 2x this week!!! I LOVE D’nealian and don’t think I will ever give up on it. It is such an amazing program and I love its gentle concern for cursive from the get go.

Haha, I'm starting to get back into the twice a week rhythm :) Yep, you couldn't convince me to use another handwriting program!

Former Kindergarten teacher and lover of D’Nealian! We always used it in my school because we used to teach cursive and like you said it’s the perfect precursor to cursive. I noticed today that the price came down again on Amazon to $16…it must just be super high demand. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s a good thing I suppose. Also. The stuff at the beginning is to practice and promote staying within the lines, tracking left to right, and practice the main strokes (down, tails, slants) that a LOT of Kinders cannot do yet at the beginning of the year. It’s assuming they’ve never held a pencil and written anything. 😊 Anyway, thanks for the flip through. Almost no one uses this, so it was so good to see inside of. I used this in Kindergarten for my daughter and then didn’t for 1st grade because A Reason for Handwriting was bundled in my Sonlight order, but I didn’t like it. I had her use a composition book to practice a little handwriting every day, but it wasn’t nearly as good as using this. So I think for 2nd grade I’m going to order the level 1 and move in to 2 when she finishes the first one. ❤️

Wow, I just checked and it's up to $24! I think I'll wait and see if price comes down at all...

@@meghanshaffer229 They are jumping around price like crazy! I looked on Ebay and they have brand new, not used for much cheaper. Also, try rainbow resource. If you’re ordering other things over $50 you’ll get free shipping😊

Thanks for your thoughts on the beginning lessons in the book, that makes sense! I wish Sonlight bundled D'Nealian!
