2 months after senior season ended due to injury I drove an hour to Pittsburgh and did my first BJJ tournament. Had a blast!

To everyone in the comments I had about 4 months of combine BJJ experience. Everyone I faced was at least a blue belt at my weight and in absolute I gave up 30+ pounds against everyone plus experience. I could’ve entered in advanced at my weight but there was 2 people Vs 6 at intermediate. I also understand a wrestler probably beat you up at bjj practice and that’s why you’re hate commenting on my video.

Wrestling is a similar form of grappling, to say you’re inexperienced is not correct. You should be going up against purple belts as a rough equivalence.

@@bg-nz9yj sorry, but I disagree. His wrestling was very good, yes. But I’ve faced harder blue belts than him to be honest. I came very close to submitting him in a kimura early on in our match. I lost by like 2 or 3 points. Being his first ever bjj tournament with less than 6 months of submission experience, I think he was in the correct division. My teammate who got second is also a good wrestler and they had a very close match as well. All these people who weren’t even there are shitting on him. I rolled against him first hand and I can tell everyone he did nothing wrong. Props to him for coming out to compete and I was happy with my performance against him.

@@hithisisharris I've been training jiu jitsu for 8 years, and the collegiate wrestlers do very well in any division. Usually they are at the top of whatever belt they are in jiu jitsu. I'm a jiu jitsu guy turned wrestler, and I admit if you learn how to wrestle you'll dominate the jiu jitsu guys fairly easy. The real problem are guys that know jiu jitsu and can wrestle at least collegiate level. That's when you're a monster on the mat and everyone has that ah shit feel when they face them! If everyone was at least blue/purple and he has very low jiu jitsu experience (4 months), he's in the correct division. Now if everyone was a white belt, I would call him out. This is great experience for him and everyone involved though!
