I'm impressed that Yiddish lyrics are just German written in Hebrew letters, apparently. For a language that's keen on consonants, it's a good match for a language that doesn't have any vowels.

@@greenaum yiddish is a language descended from German, but it isn't "just german in hebrew letters", it's more than that - it's a language that mixes German, Slavic languages, some Romance languages AND Hebrew together using german as the grammatical framework. Also Yiddish writes the vowels with letters as opposed to hebrew which uses oft omitted diacritics to mark vowels (fluent speakers of the language know the vowels, but in important texts where disambiguation is important such as the Tanakh or newspapers seldom opt to omit those and write the diacritics).

Yiddish is written in an Aramaic/Babylonian script, the same one that Hebrew uses. I believe he was singing along to an adaptation of a Norwegian piece written by Edvard Grieg, "In the Hall of the Mountain King."

Fun fact about that song: when Rebecca originally demo’d it to get it approved, the entire Omnichord basically melted on her right in the middle of it. So it was much like this Omnichord too lmao
