Daemon’s reaction tricked me too!🤣 I was like “Didn’t viserys decide to give him aid? Isn’t this a good thing? Why is he beating up a poor soldier all of a sudden?”. Little did I know Daemon would rather have himself killed than give Viserys the credit for the war😭

He spoke at the very beginning of the episode. He called for the Crabfeeder to come out of his hole, remember? 😉 But it was a brief line, so it's easy to see why people forgot about it. I love when he walked in whilst being insulted and he just straight up ignored Corlys Velaryon's brother and stared down all the soldiers, not a word was mentioned but you could see the visible weariness in them and how fed up they were. His stare solidified their loyalty out of fear through facial and body expression alone.

Imo that opening of episode 3 was the most hilarious opening of all GoT series: the soldier was so excited about Daemon’s arrival, tried to scrape every second he could take before being eaten alive by the crabs, all of it just to get smacked by a giant leg of someone who didn’t even know about your existence. @@AuroraBoost actually, skilled archers back the could very easily hit moving targets. People complaining about daemons plot armour have a very valid point. The only way it’s even conceivable for a man to run through a field of arrows like that is if the archers literally picked up archery the day before. Think of the mongols, Comanche, samurais, nubians in ancient history. Men so deadly with the bow and arrow they could hit a target dead on while riding a horse in the midst of battle. Hitting a moving target is nothing to a decent archer.

I dont think Daemon running through the barage of arrows is that unbelievable to be honest. They're bows and arrows, not snipers with laserpointers, and they're carried by pirates and outlaws who you imagine don't get the highest quality training. Plus, he's running at full sprint while theres other pirates on the field they probably don't want to hit as well, on an small island where theres likely to be a fair bit of oceanic wind. In the end he got hit three times in what, a 50 meter sprint or so? Seems like a fair hit-ratio to me, certainly not plot armour.

2:29 Fantastic point there. I've seen a lot of people criticizing Daemon being overpowered in that scene but the fact is he does indeed make an effort to keep himself protected and he literally ends up shot and surrounded anyway. Another thing to keep in mind is that Daemon walked into the crabfeeder's territory for the sole purpose of drawing him and his men out to end the war. I believe that after he read that letter, he stopped caring about the outcome for him personally, and he put his life on the line without a second thought, all so that Viserys doesn't get to claim any part in the victory he strived to achieve.

Most people claiming he has plotarmor there think that these soldiers are fucking Hawkeye It's gotten pretty normalized for people wielding bows in TV shows to shoot it with the precision of a modern Elite Sniper, but in reality it was just spray and pray. Hitting an army with a volley is easy but one man running full tilt from that distance is pretty difficult. I only wished they had faked out the Crab feeder by sending a small group to save Daemon and pull him back. Crab feeders sends his army to counter after checking again for dragons. Then the full Valeryon arm cuts down the now exposed men. There was no reason to send a whole army to get an injured Daemon and a small change would make sense even if they made the plan on the fly after Daemons mad rush.

@Goetterkomplex_
@Goetterkomplex_ Жыл бұрын
@@pedroaldrete2994 Nope. They absolutely wouldn't. US Army Soldiers, who are among the best trained in the world reach a 30% accuracy rate on stationary targets at 300m. And that is when you're calmly aiming with zero pressure. Practically speaking, in range-unknown shooting and especially in combat, actual accuracy gets absolutely terrible beyond about 100 meters. Shooting on a range and shooting on fleeting targets that are moving quickly are different. On a fast moving target easily 500m away like Daemon here, there is not a single Soldier in the world that can hit that with accuracy. Not only because of human error but because our weapons straight up *can't*. Upper range for most Assault Rifles is ~300-400m since that's when when the bullet slows down enough to go from supersonic to transonic; When that happens, it begins to tumble through the air and becomes completely inaccurate. Tl;dr: No modern soldiers with the exception of Snipers would be able to hit Daemon except through dumb luck

Daemon was the perfect bait, especially since they established there was a personnal conflict between him and the crab feeder in the begenning of the episode.

The action this episode itself was cool, but they should've thought of a better way to have Daemon avoid all the arrows instead of avoiding like 97/100 arrows that come his way in the open. They could've had him dive into a nearby structure to avoid the first volley (like the one they had him take cover in after he got hit), then the remainder of the army shows up and turns the archers' attention away, at which point Daemon emerges and cuts his way to the Crabfeeder like he does in the show. Also it seems weird that the entirety of the Crabfeeder's army would show up to accept Daemon's surrender when they're clearly exposing themselves to dragon fire. Would've been nice if there was more back-and-forth for strategic plays between Daemon and the Crabfeeder. It ended up feeling very rushed.

I think maybe the issue was that they wanted to put this at the end of this episode so there wasn't much more time to carefully develope the battle scene, at least to me it felt a bit rushed. Foreshadowing the battle and showing it in the next episode would have given them more time to set it up and make it less confusing to watch. First time watching the scene I was really wondering what was going on but after rewatching it and reading some comments on the episode it made much more sense to me. I think, if the show had established this understanding by itself, a lot of confusion about the scene could have been avoided...

We have to give special credit to the writters for writing strong ORIGINAL dialogue, unlike D&D who copied dialogues from the books in the first four seasons of GOT. It might not yet be as strong as George RR Martin's dialogue, but it is strong enough to point that the writters are inspired by his writing, and as the shows progresses, so does the quality of the dialogue. Ryan Condal said George's writing style was a huge inspiration for him, and boy it is.

The thing is, the easiest ways to get people hiding in caves out of the cave is with smoke and fire. When they go inside there caves, all they in reality need to do is build fires in around the entrance and fill the caves with smoke, the people inside will lose oxygen fast and the smoke will have draw them out, but the dragon has a long neck it should be able to poke its head in and unleash fire pretty deep into those caves. They had the best things to deal with an enemie that would hide in a cave, yet the show made it seem like they had no options and it wasnt like that. In reality and back then, thats how they would get people hiding inside caves out they would smoke it out. Indians did this, it was done to indians, but its been used by many cultures throughout most of history.

To be honest, Otto Hightower advice was not that stupid, if Aegon marry Rhaenyra it will "kill" any questioning about Aegon being the king because he basically marry the heir queen to the Throne, and kinda a union to keep Rhaenyra and Aegon in the sucession without a war or conflict. (but some people doubts are that Aegon will just be consort if he marry Rhaenyra) But it just a way that Otto to prevent Civil War, (some Hightower tradition to like with trading and diplomacy rather than war maybe involve), but it seems like Otto will not like a civil war that could treathen the future of his house if a questioning of succesion happen. Basically Otto want a soft road to the future even if was kinda limited his house power.

I think the thing that is the worst part about Daemon's suicide charge is that just a few relatively minor changes would've eliminated any criticisms of plot armor because, unlike the Battle of the Bastards, the setup for Daemon surviving the fight is not completely implausible like it was for Jon. 1. Give a POV shot of the archers while Daemon is running in order to demonstrate how small of a target he is and how hard it is to hit him while he's running horizontally to the archers. Also, don't show so many arrows whizzing right past Daemon, which will further demonstrate the inaccuracy of the archers. 2. Have Daemon hide behind cover each time a volley of arrows comes his way and only then fight the Crabfeeder's men and/or have him pick up a shield from one of the Crabfeeder's men to help protect himself from the arrows. Also, don't have the Crabfeeder's men come at him one at a time. 3. Establish how the Velaryons are able to sneak up on the Crabfeeder's forces and why the Crabfeeder would send out his entire forces to kill Daemon (and don't have the Crabfeeder's men just surround Daemon but not attack him).

Making this comment to address all the stupid plot armor talk about Daemon so here goes: He sent his troops out in waves, as to not have them totally obliterated by dragons. Each time he sent them, it was a test to see if the dragons would come. After many waves he thought Daemon truly was alone and sent the bulk of his forces. Even that makes sense, since each dragon only has one rider, taking out Daemon equates to taking out a dragon. Daemon's dragon caraxes is the greatest weapon on the opposing side, far bigger and more powerful than the other one. If they kill him they likely win the war before Viserys' forces ever arrive. It was a necessary risk. The the arrow part also makes perfect sense. No matter the skill of the archers, it's impossibly hard to have everyone, or even ONE, accurately hit a fast moving target, hundreds of feet away who is in full armor, and using cover. Archer volleys are only really effective when used against massive forces, because there's simply more targets to hit. When there's only a single target, that is moving, they're lucky to hit any. And they managed to hit him three times at least and boxed him into a corner. This is a more accurate archery display in medieval media than is common.

It was necessary risk to send all infantry into the open to surround and not attack one wounded dude that you need killed? One more small group that would actually do something would be enough. Also, agree that hitting him with arrows would be hard, but he dodged 9 volleys and arrows were shown to be landing quite tightly packed all around him. That was just too much. And when they finally hit him, they penetrated his chest plate for some reason and he just brushed it off like nothing. They could show how that plate deflects some arrows during running scenes, on at leas one hit him during that time to the shoulder or something or actually display how hard it is to hit him from archer perspective and everything would be fine. And how did the army teleport there without anyone noticing when trebuchetting passing boats is literally the whole purpose of crabfeeders? They sure had to have some people that can see ships coming towards them. And how is the one archer focusing on Daemon the only one noticing a dragon just when it is too late? Was it in stealth the whole time? No scouts whatsoever. How was that band of incompetents able to survive years of war if they were this dim. This battle was all kinds of stupid. It reminded me of last few seasons of GoT. Which is understandable, since the guy that mishandled battles there is of the show runners now.

@@milanhvozdik3379 The only real issue to me is like you said, how did no one notice the approaching army. Albeit that's a pretty big issue. The archery, again, makes sense. I found the battle scene very disappointing. The plot armor was so strong it must've been made of Valerian steel! The action was so boring and there was no suspense. There was disbelief for sure, but not suspense. I believe this is a really bad omen to how the series will play out, and I'm surprised most viewers are finding excuses for it. In the good GoT seasons (1-4) we never had to twist ourselves into pretzels to explain how a character didn't die or how a battle played out. We started doing that in season 5 and then exceedingly in seasons 6-8! I would rank the ridiculousness of the battle scene here to be at par with season 6. I can only hope that we'll start going down the scales back to seasons 1-4 otherwise soon enough we'll find ourselves in season 7-8 territory again.

I should rewatch that scene with Viserys because everyone else is taking it differently than I did when he was talking about his dream. I thought it was the realization that his dream was just a regular dream and not a prophetic one at all, but everyone I see still talks about it like he had a prophetic dream, despite no parts of it coming true other than him finally having a son.

I really loved House of Dragon episode 3, well with the steppingstones, did not really care much for the hunt part. But my main question is where was ceraxes during that fight. At the start of the episode, you see Daemon ride on ceraxes and start to burn everything. Then he gets back to the main camp and receives his brothers letter just after he got off ceraxes. Did he just vanish or something since only sea smoke came to his aid dragon wise.

Watching this scene again, the fog is very dense. It just can't be that dense to us viewers or we can't seeing anything. So those missing arrows are logical when you factor in wind and fog.

For real, they were firing medevil bows, at a moving target from meters away! And the legendary swordsman they were shooting at, was doing somersaults cutting through their men & occasionally taking cover too. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 lmao So of course most of them missed. Plus, nobody takes into account that most of them were just mercenaries - nobody said anything about them being EXPERT level bowmen ffs. And we saw that Daemon did in fact get hit, soooo... it's not like he wasn't in ANY danger. He very well could have died & I felt that worry, despite already knowing the story! People are just nitpicking this show to death, in ways they NEVER did the earlier seasons of GoT. 🙄 And I mean I get it... trust was broken. But these are new showrunners, who at least care about the lore & have involved George in everything, every step of the way. I really wish people could just RELAX, and give the show a chance, instead of literally looking for things to b*tch about. They're all such small mistakes or gripes... why even bother bringing them up?? They've done a brilliant job so far. Let Us f*cking celebrate it.

@@KabbalahSherry Why do you think Mercenaries are inexperienced? You realise being a mercenary meant you were competent in the art of war? Why would a king hire a very expensive mercenary company if they're no better then the farm hands of his own land? The lack of education is baffling.

In regards to the arrow barrage, some weapons expert I saw did an analysis on it, and what he said was that given the accuracy of arrows in the time period that the a song of ice and fire series is set in, the amount of training it would take to get people to be super proficient with bows was longer than the step stones were under seige, and then even considering the type of bow you couldn't expect them to be as accurate as say Ramsey's men were in the battle of the bastards. So as you said, barely plot armour, if any at all.
