Episode 1
Ordering a new 2024 Model X. Some of my thoughts and opinions on Tesla's and EV's in general have dramatically changed recently. The ordering process was quite easy online, however the estimated delivery dates are a bit weird, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of uniformity in when people get their orders... at least not based on when you ordered.

FYI, the stock Uberturbine wheel and tire weighs 68 lbs. My aftermarket 19s weigh 53 lbs. There's a hill I drive down at 40 mph and when I let off the 'gas' and use regen braking, the inertial weight of the stock wheels is so heavy that the car continues to gain speed. With the 19s in the same test, the regen feels stronger and it slows the car going down the hill. Yes, I do love the look of low profile, and had that most of my life (50s), but I guess my sensibilities are changing. The roads in my area are pretty rough. Now, would I go with a smaller wheel on a Pagani, Ferrari, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini... definitely not. I would also be fine with low profile on better streets. When the roads are concrete instead of asphalt, the road noise is much louder inside with low profiles.

If you drive in "Chill" mode, you can dramatically lengthen your mileage if you have a Performance model. For example, when I'm in the Model Y in chill, I get about 230 kwh/mi, but in performance mode and driving like I want, I'm usually between 350-380 kwh/mi

First 100 miles after leaving the showroom, I was in the sport driving mode and had the drag race/launch option selected. Haven't launched it yet in that mode (I did on my test drive last year though) and my range was 320 Wh/mi. Dropped to Chill mode and turned off the drag option, and it's at 242 Wh/mi so far after a 10-20 minutes of driving. Massive difference for sure (and it's still nearly as quick in chill mode). Thanks for the tip and reminder that I don't need to be racing everyone and everywhere, haha.

Thanks for the videos!!! I've gone back and forth with model y but lack of cooled seats is turn off for me also being in AZ. I might go with model X, i need to sched a test drive. I'll 100% be using your referral code when i order.

I can't wait to see what the new refreshed Model 3 Performance is like. If it still qualifies for the EV incentive (unlike the RWD and LR ones) that will make for some interesting decisions!

Had massive curb rash on my right side Model Y wheels... the 21" Uberturbines. The rim stands out further than the wheel, really horrible design. Decided instead of buying new Uberturbines, I dropped down to a 19" aftermarket wheel set. Better breaking, better acceleration, longer range, softer ride. Have a Model X coming in March, and went with the 20" wheels there. Enough with the oversize for me. There's too many benefits going with the smaller wheels.

Yeah that's disappointing to hear. But I agree with your call as well. I like the look of the lower profile tires, even with the cost, loss of performance, etc... but the larger Tesla Wheels all seem to have those issues you described. What color Model X did you order?

@@DAHT In order to get the $7500 credit, you have to order grey, 5 seats, 20 inch wheels. There's only one configuration that comes in under the $80k limit for the rebate.

So from my understanding when you transfer the incentive to tesla, they just knock that $7500 off the MSRP?

Yep. As long as it's a model/configuration that qualifies, you sign the incentive over to Tesla and it comes off the purchase price at time of sale now. Pretty nice IMO.
