I find it really odd that people fret over losing 20-30miles of range after several years, while promoting the solution of charging to 90% which means you've already given yourself the 10% degradation up front. 🤔

I supercharge my model 3 all the time. I've had my performance dual motor for 4 years and Ihave 155k on the odometer. . Im getting 263 mi now. Its getting colder. I was getting 270 mi in the summer

I drove 36.000 km over 3½ year Tesla 3 LR RWD - only supercharging. From new EPA 520 km range, now 500 km range. Only to 100% 3 times, normally 80% to 90%.

I supercharge exclusively and my battery is still fine.

super charged for one trip that took 600 miles with exclusively tesla supercharger and the range went from 135 to 122 ... the car has 53k miles. And its got more than 13% degradation. Their statement... idk

Dont forget that Tesla also has a mission: To replace ICE cars as fast as possible. Every Battery Pack that needs to be replaced means that replacement pack cannot be put in a new car.

The new LFP battery in Tesla can be charged fully %100 with no problem or degradation in charging cycles and battery health. In fact Tesla recommends charging the new LFP batteries to full capacity. But I don’t know if fast charging those batteries would hurt them. I know they last longer than conventional lithium batteries and can resist more heat and colder conditions

Thanks so much for this. I’m getting my MYLR next week and live in an apartment, so supercharging is my only option at the moment. The good news is i’m guessing i’ll only need to charge once every 3 weeks or so. This put my mind at ease.

Hi Jon look into High Purity Alumina (HPA) It is currently used in some higher grade Li batteries as a separator and sometimes within the anode. From my research I believe HPA will become a favourite for battery manufacturers as it allows fast charging, fire safety, longevity of the cycle life. There are companies now looking at HPA doped graphite anode’s which allow the anode to absorb more Li ions as there is far more available locations for the ion. Far less plating occurs when HPA is introduced to the chemistry.
