Ben Kennedy joined Dale Earnhardt Jr. and co-host Mike Davis on The Dale Jr. Download and opened up about the loss of his father. In 2007, Ben tragically lost his dad, Dr. Bruce Kennedy, in a plane crash. He and Dale were able to bond over the shock of losing a loved one suddenly.

Dale Jr I never had the chance to say how sorry for you about you dad. He was an icon for so many people. Most respected driver ever. You are clearly making your own way and was taught by the best. You are well loved and respected and not just because of your roots. If I could afford to see a race I would be there. Ben so sorry for your loss. I lost both my parents so I completely understand. Blessed be to you both. 💜💜💜🌛🌕🌜

DJD has done such a great job of humanizing sides of the sport you don't really get to see. While controversial, I would love to see either Teresa Earnhardt or Brian France on this show. I feel that Junior has hit a point that he would be able to nail down perfect, mature, and informative conversations with both of them.

@@StrivingTowardsWhatIsAhead I'm honestly curious to see her on the show. I think there's certain decisions she made where you only ever heard the one side of the story and not hers. I feel like there's a lot more to the story than just what we've been told. Tony Eury Jr humanized her a bit when he was on the DJD this year.

This has been really helpful for me. I lost my Dad and I haven't been the same since. I really appreciate the thoughtful interviews you make happen. I grew up a Gordon fan and so I wasn't the biggest fan of yours because of the fan rivalry but I'm a huge fan of yours now. God Bless.

I lost my son 5 years ago he was 25. It definitely shakes you to your core and changes the way you look at everything. Very sorry for both of your losses. It's natural to try and stay away from the hurt. But I found the healing is where the hurt is. You have to go through it. Prayers for all thats been through it.

Was helping my Dad take down big maple tree. Once done, he says let's take a break. I head out to visit some friends and return in 2 hours to see the ambulance. Never got to say goodbye to him. I was 21 at the time. That event almost 40 years ago changed and shaped my life like no other. Dale, I don't know you or the pain you had regarding your Dad....but I feel it. If that makes any sense. Stay safe.

This episode... This one got me. I'm young yet, only 17, but hearing y'all talk about mementos got me thinking about my Paw Paws Roush Racing hat that I now wear every day. More than that it got me thinking about what I'll have to remember my dad by when he's gone and I couldnt help but start crying when I realized most of the good times I'm gonna spend with him have already passed. Thank all of y'all for this podcast, got me crying thinking of the times I had with my dad in his old car.

For me this is a very impactful video. One because I am still a strong Dale Sr fan, for a lot of reasons that folks in recent years are getting to see and know aspects of your dad that were mostly tiny glimpses of in the media or small snippets of information that he let out; yet also because of the recent loss of loved ones in my own life. To hear from people about they dealt with things early after the loss, and years later when emotions aren't so raw is encouraging and empowering. Thank you, all of you, thank you

Seeing him win at Bristol says everything anyone needs to know about this guy. I watched the post race interview again recently and he said it was the best day of his life. He might have been exaggerating a little but to see how sincere he was about racing made me a fan. We always wonder about wealthy guys entering the sport and making their way, trying to do it own their own, but he definitely has a love of the sport.

It would be good to mix it back in because it's a unique track but the reason nascar left all these tracks is because there were too many regional tracks and they weren't selling out. If they could go to an Indy type rotating schedule for some of these tracks and use the Xfinity cars and trucks etc to fill other weekends, maybe it would work. They built too many tracks too fast that they couldn't pay for.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad on November 3rd 2018 and as someone else said on here I'm still not "right". My Dad and I were close. He taught me everything I know about how to be a father and husband, but there are still times I feel like I need his advice but he's not here for me to go to anymore. It will get better, but you'll always miss him. God Bless you and I pray his grace and peace bestowed on you during this difficult time.

The interaction my dad and your dad had in 1987 is a wild story ! Love to join your show I'm right here outside of Myrtle Beach like I said If this comment is ever read or gets read by anybody on the Dale Jr podcast or Dale Jr yourself!, I'd like to say I'd be very happy to drive up there and do a podcast I lost my dad and I was in a very close relationship always had been with my dad I wasn't on the platform you were with yours being celebrities in the NASCAR world but let me tell you something I live about 20 miles north of Myrtle Beach and I could drive up there and I'd love to do a podcast I've done a podcast with with a very low non-2000 plus sub scriber guy that trying to build a KZfaq channel I'm just try to help as much as I can subscribe like everything I can do for you too and yourself! Cuz I got a good story about 1987 when my dad went to Darlington yeah Tim Richmond won the race but it was the interaction with your dad and my dad that I would love to talk about with you! Like I said talk with you on the podcast Dale Jr and your buddy on the right LOL!

Suggestion, maybe a short intro of your guest would help your new listeners and fans. I know who Ben Kennedy is but I'm sure they don't. Your dad has to be very proud of the man you've become as a husband and dad and the power and influence you have with NASCAR and the racing industry. 🏁🏆🏁

Quite honestly if junior is tabling his investment in the cup series, and the fact that Tony Stewart is pissed off at NASCAR, my suggestion to this fellow would be to go back to the drawing board and find out what will make these two gentlemen happy and their thoughts as to how NASCAR could improve because right now it completely sucks ass. NASCAR is completely out of touch and has dismissed their core Fanbase. Let’s get back to the grassroots tracks like North Wilkesboro and Rockingham. Stop with a Liberal Progressive metropolitan city race track nonsense. They hate NASCAR no matter what your stats say. The real fans will travel to grassroots tracks. NASCAR is just out of touch and to corporate. I like this guy but the sport will eventually fail with this mindset. And quite honestly if Junior and Stewart are not happy and leave NASCAR is doomed.
